Rare Titanic Photo just hours after tragedy up for auction

Scrapbook with Titanic rescue pictures goes up for auction

A New York socialite's scrapbook is set to be auctioned off on October 26. Louis M. Ogden's scrapbook includes several pages of pictures showing the rescue of survivors of the Titanic sinking. Ogden and his wife were sailing to Europe on the Carpathia when the ship was called to respond to the site of the Titanic's iceberg collision. Among Ogden's pictures is a photo showing Lifeboat No. 6 being rescued (left), which had the famous Margaret Brown (right) on board. Mrs Brown would later be nicknamed the Unsinkable Molly Brown for standing up to the sailor in charge of her boat, who refused to turn back for survivors. Another photo shows the iceberg Mr Ogden believes the Titanic struck. Historical records show that the Ogdens pitched in to help the survivors being brought on board their ship, lending their clothes and serving coffee. The Titanic pictured center inset on its maiden voyage.

The 7 words in Bible most Christians ignore

My good friend and WND colleague Joe Kovacs has followed up his wildly popular and fun book, “Shocked by the Bible,” with a sequel – “Shocked by the Bible 2,” of course – that is much more challenging, raising tough questions for most Christians.

One of the things I love about Kovacs’ new book is his use of red letters for all of the words spoken by Jesus – whether they are in the New Testament or Old.

“What?” you ask. “Words of Jesus in the Old Testament? Jesus didn’t speak in the Hebrew Scriptures.”

Well, as Kovacs accurately points out, if you believe the Bible, Jesus is and was and always will be the Word of God. He is the Creator of all things (John 1). Thus, whenever God has spoken to man, it was, in fact, Jesus who was doing the speaking – whether it was to Adam, Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, David, Solomon or Elijah. In addition, the Greek Scriptures make it clear that the Father and Son are one – always have been, always will be.

Therefore, why the distinction in so many red-letter edition Bibles between the words of Jesus and God? Are they not one in the same? Was Jesus not the Creator of the all things, as the Gospel of John tells us?

The problem, of course, is that most followers of Jesus don’t consider the clear implications of what the Bible tells us – that Jesus is eternal, that He and the Father are one, that He is the maker of all things and, literally, the Word of God – the one who spoke all things into existence.

In fact, I suspect most Christians have been taught to believe, whether they realize it or not, that God the Father was, without putting too fine a point on it, the God of the Old Testament, while Jesus came to Earth with a whole new plan of salvation, rather than one that was revealed as early as Genesis 3:15, a passage often referred to as the proto-evangelium, or “first gospel.”

Get Ready to Be Shocked by the Bible Again - "Shocked 2" Hits the stands!

Did you ever wonder if you were getting the whole story when it comes to the Bible? Might there be some crucial information withheld from you? Could the powers that be in major religions actually be broadcasting a false message when it comes to God's glorious truth

As stunning as it may seem, what's written in Scripture is often the polar opposite of what's taught in many churches. The Bible says the devil deceives the whole world. He has cleverly tricked billions of people, and that includes countless Christians who profess their faith in Jesus.
Now, for those who seek the truth and are not afraid to discover the absolute veracity of Holy Scripture, Joe Kovacs breaks impressive new ground in "Shocked by the Bible 2," the highly anticipated, compelling sequel to his previous eye-opener, "Shocked by the Bible."
The heart of the gospel has been secretly hidden in a small book that many people think should not even be in the Bible
The three words of Jesus that most Christians don't believe
The destiny of Satan and the rest of the wicked is not what most people think
The intriguing meaning of shaking the dust off your feet
There is a resurrection that virtually no one talks about
Judgment Day does not mean that everyone is thrown into a fire
There's an important reason why God allows evil, and many pastors don't even know what it is
Some prayers are actually detestable to God

"Joe Kovacs has always made the Bible understandable for today’s readers."

"Indeed, nobody in 100 years has done a better job informing people about what the Bible really says. His books are not theology, just facts!”

The Feast in Review

The Feast is Over, why do we do it every year?  One Reason: Jesus Christ,  The Blessed Hope

image from www.adventtruth.orgMany are concerned about all that is going on in the world today. There are wars, pestilences, unusual weather patterns, economic uncertainty, and moral declension. They wonder, what do all these things mean? People are asking, where’s the world headed? How will it all end? Does anyone have the answers to the world’s problems? Humanity is dismayed and confused.

Thankfully, we have the words of our Creator who offers these words of comfort through His servant, John, “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away (Revelation 21:1-4).     Read More

FBI Hiding Truth about Vegas Shooter?

Valet entries from Mandalay Bay prove that gunman Stephen Paddock checked in on September 25th, three days before the official date given by authorities for when he checked in, September 28.

Reporter Laura Loomer obtained an image from inside the Mandalay Bay valet center which shows Paddock’s car was first logged on September 25. Below the computer display a hand written note is also visible that states “Stephen Paddock 9/25-10/2.”

According to Loomer’s source, the note was written by an FBI agent when he asked valet staff to provide details of all in-out times for Paddock’s vehicle.   MORE

The Feast of Tabernacles-The Six Minor Days and the 7th Holy Day (Today)

The Six Minor Days

Only the first of the seven days of this feast was 'a holy convocation'; the other six were 'minor festivals.' On each day, besides the ordinary morning and evening sacrifices, the festive offerings prescribed in Numbers 29:12-38 were brought. The Psalms sung at the drink-offering after the festive sacrifices (or Musaph, as they are called), were, for the first day of the feast, Psalm 105; for the second, Psalm 29; for the third, Psalm 50, from verse 16; for the fourth, Psalm 94, from verse 16; for the fifth, Psalm 94, from verse 8; for the sixth, Psalm 81, from verse 6; for the last day of the feast, Psalm 82, from verse 5. As the people retired from the altar at the close of each day's service, they exclaimed, 'How beautiful art thou, O altar!'—, according to a later version, 'We give thanks to Jehovah and to thee, O altar!' All the four-and-twenty orders of the priesthood were engaged in the festive offerings, which were apportioned among them according to definite rules, which also fixed how the priestly dues were to be divided among them. Lastly, in every sabbatical year the Law was to be publicly read on the first day of the feast (Deut 31:10-13). *

* In later times only certain portions were read, the law as a whole being sufficiently known from the weekly prelections in the synagogues.

On the afternoon of the seventh day of the feast the people began to remove from the 'booths.' For at the Octave, on the 22nd of Tishri, they lived no longer in booths, nor did they use the lulav. But it was observed as 'a holy convocation'; and the festive sacrifices prescribed in Numbers 29:36-38 were offered, although no more by all the twenty-four courses of priests, and finally the 'Hallel' sung at the drink-offering.

The Pouring and Lighting Post-Mosaic

It will have been observed that the two most important ceremonies of the Feast of Tabernacles— pouring out of water and the illumination of the Temple— of post-Mosaic origin. According to Jewish tradition, the pillar of cloud by day and of fire by night had first appeared to Israel on the 15th of Tishri, the first day of the feast. On that day also Moses was said to have come down from the Mount, and accounted to the people that the Tabernacle of God was to be reared among them. We know that the dedication of Solomon's Temple and the descent of the Shechinah took place at this feast (1 Kings 8; 2 Chron 7). Nor can we greatly err in finding an allusion to it in this description of heavenly things: 'After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God, which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb' (Rev 7:9,10).

Whether or not our suggestions be adopted as to the typical meaning of the two great ceremonies of the 'pouring out of the water' and the Temple illumination, the fact remains, that the Feast of Tabernacles is the one only type in the Old Testament which has not yet been fulfilled.

What do you think the Bible says is your ultimate destiny? And what will you be doing for all eternity? Is it merely floating around on clouds, playing songs on harps forevermore? The true answers may absolutely floor you.

"When people actually crack open the pages of their own Bible and see the words on its pages, the ultimate destiny for believers is far more glorious than what most people have been told for centuries," says Joe Kovacs, author of the #1 best-seller, "Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You've Never Been Told."

Many Christians already understand that part of their reward is eternal life, and yes, Scripture indeed confirms that numerous times. But the Bible goes far beyond just saying believers will be alive forever.

The specifics are revealed in "Shocked by the Bible," a timeless must-read for those looking for the absolute truth of the Bible. Not only does it clearly explain the ultimate destiny for mankind, the book is a giant news report that informs people on what is actually in the Bible, and what is not.

With that in mind, how well do you really know your own Bible? For instance, guess how many doves were aboard Noah's Ark. The answer is not two.

And guess on which day the Bible says Jesus died. Believe it or not, the Good Book doesn't mention Friday, and even more surprisingly, while the Bible says Jesus rose from the grave, it does not say it occurred Sunday morning. Remember, Jesus' followers found an empty tomb then.

But don't feel bad if you've always assumed otherwise. Like countless millions of people, you've just been misinformed, misled or even (dare we say) lied to about what the Bible actually says.

In his stunning investigation, news veteran Joe Kovacs goes on a mission to help both Christians and non-Christians alike find out the amazing truth.

"Shocked by the Bible" is an educational juggernaut that relies solely on the Holy Bible to reveal hundreds of Scriptural facts that many people of all persuasions simply don't know. The book instantly skyrocketed to the #1 position in three Bible-related categories on, and demand from Christians worldwide has led to its translation into Russian and Korean.

"I'm among the biggest fans of the Bible of all time," says Kovacs. "My goal is to educate people about the solid truth of Scripture and to stop the spread of erroneous information. I want people to crack open their Bibles and see with their own eyes what's actually printed on the pages, and what's not. It's shocking!"

According to Scripture, you won't find "Three Wise Men" mentioned anywhere in the story of Jesus' birth. For that matter, no wise men are said to have shown up at the manger in Bethlehem. The truth straight from your own Bible is that an unspecified number of wise men first met Jesus as a "young child" in a "house," not a babe in a manger, and it might have been more than a year after He was born. Go ahead, look it up for yourself.

Also according to Scripture, you won't find a single mention of Easter eggs, but you will find God warning His people not to have anything to do with a pagan fertility goddess, whose name is synonymous with "Easter."

"Yes, I'm a Bible-believing worshiper of Jesus Christ," says Kovacs. "But I'm not here to convert anyone. People are free to believe whatever they wish and can come to their own conclusions. I just want to show them the biblical record is often very different from what many assume. Not only will Christians love this book, but I think Jews, Muslims and even agnostics and atheists will get a kick out of it as well."

When the veil of presumption is removed and people see the words that are actually on the Bible's pages, readers will discover:

  • Jesus said no one has gone to heaven except Himself
  • Noah's Ark is not said to have rested on "Mount Ararat"
  • Your personal destiny is far greater and more glorious than floating around on clouds in heaven
  • "Christmas" is not mentioned in the Bible
  • The practice of decorating a tree with silver and gold is actually condemned by God
  • "Easter" has vanished from the Bible
  • Jesus made appearances on earth in the Old Testament
  • God sought to kill Moses moments after he told him to lead the Israelites to freedom
  • God ran lotteries
  • Jesus did not come to make everyone understand His message
  • Noah, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob were not Jews
  • Nagging wives are mentioned in Scripture
  • Women's breasts are celebrated in the Bible
  • There's a character in the Bible called a "dumb ass"
  • Underwear didn't disintegrate despite 40 years of heavy use
  • The worst case of hemorrhoids in history is recorded

Book reviewers agree it's an eye-opening blockbuster:

"If you think you really know the Bible, better think again. Joe Kovacs takes a close look at the greatest story ever told and separates myth from reality. My favorite parts of the book deal with Christmas and Easter. Check out 'Shocked by the Bible.' You may well be shocked."

    - Bill O'Reilly, anchor, Fox News Channel

"I'm drawn to this book. It is so well put together. I started reading it and didn't put it down for two days to finish it. ... This guy is incredible."

    – Peter Boyles, KHOW radio host, Denver

"Kovacs has done his homework. In 'Shocked by the Bible,' he explodes certain common concepts, brings shocking stories and revelations to light and gives the reader motivation to dig deeper into the very Word of God. A valuable resource for today's jaded but biblically illiterate audience."

    - Carolyn R. Scheidies, Author's Choice Reviews

"Since the professing church is unwilling to look intently at the Scriptures, embrace it all in context, [God] is using a believing investigative journalist to apply his gift and experience to be a witness to the Truth of what He said and established in His Word. Joe Kovacs is that man. ... I recommend 'Shocked by The Bible' by Joe Kovacs because of his journalistic approach to the Bible. He is not trying to proselytize anyone to his particular brand of religion. His agenda appears to not go beyond just a journalistic look at Scripture in order to get straight facts into peoples' hands that they might make an informed decision."

    – Banner Kidd, Torah Perspective

"Shocked by the Bible is nothing short of genius. From start to finish, Joe Kovacs turns the subject of Scripture into a fun-filled, information treasure that's virtually impossible to put down. The truth of what's really in the Bible will simply stun the world."

    - Joseph Farah, editor,

The faces of Victims

Tributes pour in for the Las Vegas shooting victims

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has now confirmed the identities of all but three of the 58 people killed during the massacre on Sunday evening. Many of the more than 250 people injured are still in a critical condition. Commissioner Sislack added the victims had received 3.7 million dollars in donations, for operations, medical treatment and funerals. MGM contributed $3 million. Tributes are now pouring in for those who were caught up in the sick act of violence. Some of those shot sacrificed their lives for their loved-ones. Others died while trying to get people out of the firing line. Many were mothers and fathers. Others were first responders, medical workers and security guards.

The Feast of Tabernacles - Day 2-- Jesus Christ Reigns Over All the Earth

image from encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.comGod's plan for mankind involves restoration. The Feast of Tabernacles symbolizes the restoration process.

In his first inspired sermon after receiving the Holy Spirit on Pentecost, the apostle Peter summed up God's instruction for mankind: "Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before, whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began" (Acts 3:19-21).

But what are these "times of refreshing" and "times of restoration" of which Peter spoke?

God's plan for mankind involves restoration. The Feast of Tabernacles symbolizes the restoration process, which will start with the return of Jesus Christ, pictured by the Feast of Trumpets, and the banishment of Satan, depicted by the Day of Atonement. Once these events have taken place, as represented by the previous Holy Days, the foundation is in place for the restoration of the creation to peace and harmony with God.

The seven-day Feast of Tabernacles, which begins with an annual Holy Day (Leviticus 23:34-35), pictures the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ over the earth after His second coming (see Revelation 20:4). This period is often called the Millennium, which simply means "1,000 years."

This feast also reflects the "rest" symbolized by the weekly Sabbath (Hebrews 4:1-11) that celebrates the great harvest of humanity when all people then alive will learn God's ways. Humanity will at last be restored to a right relationship with Him (Isaiah 11:9-10).

In the beginning, God created mankind to cooperate with Him in a beautiful relationship characterized by love, peace and obedience to His laws. At the completion of His creation, "God saw everything that He had made, and indeed it was very good" (Genesis 1:31).  This time of peace and harmony abruptly ended because of Satan's deception and man's disobedience (Genesis 3:1-6). Disobedience cut mankind off from God's way (Genesis 3:21-24). The Bible describes the tragic result that later followed: "Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually" (Genesis 6:5).

This broken relationship between God and man has continued through history to our time. Paul reflected on the human condition: "Through one man [Adam] sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned"(Romans 5:12).

Thankfully, as Paul also knew, the breach created by man's disobedience is healed through Jesus Christ: "For since by man [Adam] came death, by Man [Christ] also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive" (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).
