Reagan - A Time For Choosing

The following Reagan messages are still applicable today:

"This idea that government is beholden to the people, that it has no other source of power except the sovereign people, is still the newest and the most unique idea in all the long history of man's relation to man."

"This is the issue of this election: Whether we believe in our capacity for self-government or whether we abandon the American Revolution and confess that a little intellectual elite in a far-distant capital can plan our lives for us better than we can plan them ourselves.

"You and I are told increasingly we have to choose between a left or right. Well, I'd like to suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There's only an up or down — (up) man's old-aged dream, the ultimate in individual freedom consistent with law and order, or down to the ant heap of totalitarianism. And regardless of their sincerity, their humanitarian motives, those who would trade our freedom for security have embarked on this downward course.

"A government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they know when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose.

"We have so many people who can't see a fat man standing beside a thin one without coming to the conclusion the fat man got that way by taking advantage of the thin one. So they're going to solve all the problems of human misery through government and government planning.

"No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. So governments' programs, once launched, never disappear . . . Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this Earth.

"Those who would trade our freedom for the soup kitchen of the welfare state have told us they have a utopian solution of peace without victory. They call their policy 'accommodation.' And they say if we'll only avoid any direct confrontation with the enemy, he'll forget his evil ways and learn to love us."

Did angels intercede to save Reagan's life?

Twice President Reagan faced life-threatening experiences and twice he had encounters with angelic beings who comforted him and helped pull him through his medical crises, says a new book, "Hand of Providence: The Strong and Quiet Faith of Ronald Reagan," by Mary Beth Brown.

As Reagan was fighting for his life after being shot by John Hinckley March 30, 1981, he was having trouble breathing. His skin had turned so pale, Nancy Reagan remembers, "He was the color of paper – just as white as a sheet, with dried blood around his mouth."

Reagan later recalled looking up from the gurney and praying. Half-conscious, he realized someone was holding his hand.

"It was a soft, feminine hand," he writes in his autobiography, "An American Life." "I felt it come up and touch mine and then hold on tight to it. It gave me a wonderful feeling. Even now I find it difficult to explain how reassuring, how wonderful, it felt."

Despite great efforts to find out who was holding his hand, no one in the hospital could help the president.

Reagan's children believe those mysterious nurses that helped pull their father through this life-threatening ordeal were angels.

"Patty believes they were angels, and so do I," said Michael Reagan, who wrote the foreword to "Hand of Providence."

Rabbi: America's 143-yr. reign kaput, Obama's address a biblical warning

Ironically, President Barack Obama's State of the Union message declaring that "the shadow of crisis has passed" couldn't be further from the truth, says one New York Times bestselling author. He also contends that America's 143-year reign as the world's strongest economic force officially came to a close ... months ago.

A Closer LookInstead of the shadows lifting — as the president predicted on Tuesday night — the biblically savvy rabbi argues that they are just beginning to set in. He refers to ancient Israel's falling away from God's Word and soon-to-follow disintegration as a nation as a warning few Americans have heeded.

"Listening to the president's State of the Union address, I was reminded of ancient Israel," Rabbi Jonathan Cahn told WND. "The people (of Israel) convinced themselves that they were coming back stronger than before. And then it all collapsed, and the judgment came."

Of harbingers and Shemitahs

Cahn, whose book The Harbinger: The Ancient Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future was a New York Times bestseller for more than 110 weeks, argues that America's rejection of God's Word is ushering in His judgments — a cause-and-effect that is thoroughly examined in his work.

The "harbingers" that Cahn mentions as signs of America's impending demise are typical of a post-Christian society — one that has turned its back on God and that will suffer the consequences.

Cahn also points to the current Shemitah year as a clear indication that America is in the midst of a plunge into obscurity. He describes the dynamics of the Shemitah in another one of his New York Times bestsellers — The Mystery of the Shemitah: The 3,000-Year-Old Mystery That Holds the Secret of America’s Future, the World’s and Future and Your Future! — alerting America of judgments in the past few months and months to come.

"The Shemitah comes once every seven years," WND's Leo Hohmann explains in his article. "In biblical Israel, it brought a canceling of debts, a resting of the land from sowing and reaping, and a resetting of financial accounts. The seven-year Shemitah cycle was meant as a blessing as long as the Israelites followed God and observed his ways, but it could manifest as judgment if the nation turned to its own devices and removed God from its culture and legal system."   MORE

The swine flu pandemic of 2009 was caused by a type A influenza (H1N1) virus. This virus was originally referred to as "swine flu" because many of the genes of this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs in North America. The H1N1 virus is genetically similar to the 1918 pandemic virus, as determined from victims of the latter who were buried, and later disinterred, in Svalbard. It was responsible for most of the outbreaks up until 1956 and then disappeared.

However, this new virus was actually quite different from the typical swine flu viruses. This virus first caused illness in Mexico and the United States in March and April, 2009. This novel H1N1 flu spread from person to person, unlike typical swine flu. In 2009 vaccines were being developed for the prevention of swine flu in humans. (Source)

On 11 June 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the swine flu had developed into a full-scale world epidemic -- a pandemic alert to Phase 6. Margaret Chan, the Director-General of WHO, commented on the situation in a somewhat ambiguous way. While stressing that the swine flu had reached a serious pandemic level, she declared later in the same statement that the illness seemed to be mild and that most of the patients would recover without medical intervention. Saudi Arabia’s efforts to “drown” American energy producers make the oil-rich theocracy a crucial ally of the environmentalist movement, according to a leading green group.

The House of Saud, the kingdom’s royal family, is “our best ally in the fight against Keystone XL,” according to Paul Rauber, the senior editor of Sierra, the bi-monthly magazine published by the Sierra Club, a leading environmentalist group.   MORE

Law enforcement tracks all Americans, but doesn't want Americans tracking them

If you're an American citizen (or resident) looking for a single sentence to summarize your relationship with the government, here's one possibility: “The government gets to spy on you and know your whereabouts at all times, whereas you aren't even allowed to know where to find the nearest police officer nearest you.”

That's the simplest conclusion to reach after looking at two different and theoretically unrelated news stories from this week.

The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that the Justice Department, primarily the Drug Enforcement Administration, “has been building a national database to track in real time the movement of vehicles around the U.S., a secret domestic intelligence-gathering program that scans and stores hundreds of millions of records about motorists, according to current and former officials and government documents.”

Not that this should surprise anyone who pays attention. Last May, when we reported how “license plate scanner errors vex innocent motorists,” we pointed out that if you live in modern America, there's a good chance that anytime you leave your house, your movements and whereabouts are being recorded in real-time and stored in a permanent record accessible to anybody willing to pay for database access (or skilled enough to hack into it).   MORE

Confederate submarine H.L Hunley that sank Union ship mystery solved

image from 15 years of painstaking restoration, scientists say they are on the brink of solving what sank the Confederate submarine H.L. Hunley - the first sub in history to wreck an enemy warship.

Considered the Confederacy's stealth weapon during the Civil War, the hand-cranked Hunley sank the Union warship Housatonic in winter 1864 and then disappeared with all eight Confederate sailors inside. Its remains were discovered in 1995 in waters off South Carolina and five later it was raised to a conservation lab. Now with about 70per cent of the hull cleaned of heavy rust, Paul Mardikian, a senior conservator on the Hunley project, says that crucial clues have been unearthed but 'it's too early to talk about it yet.'

He added: 'It's like unwrapping a Christmas gift after 15 years. We have been wanting to do this for many years now. We have a submarine that is encrypted. It's like an Enigma machine.' 

He said the clues will be studied closely as scientists finally piece together what happened to the 40-foot submarine that night decades ago. 

The narrow, top-secret 'torpedo fish,' built in Mobile, Alabama by Horace Hunley from cast iron and wrought iron with a hand-cranked propeller, arrived in Charleston in 1863 while the city was under siege by Union troops and ships.
