40 years on, woman who survived 33,000 foot fall still faces questions

On January 26, 1972 Vesna Vulovic, then a flight attendant, was on board a Yugoslav Airlines DC-9 bound for Copenhagen when an explosion ripped apart the aircraft over Czechoslovakia.

Rescue workers found Ms Vulovic in a mangled segment of the aircrafts tail, alive despite suffering from serious injuries that initially left her paralysed from the waist down.

None of 22 other passengers and crew survived An investigation concluded that flight JAT 367 had been destroyed while cruising at 33,000 feet by a bomb planted by Croatian separatists. For her remarkable survival Ms Vulovic won a mention in the Guinness Book of Records.
