Author Stephen King’s Pro-God Response to Atheists and Non-Believers

Author Stephen King believes in God — and he also thinks that the universe is built in a such an organized manner that the notion of “intelligent design” is wholly supportable.

King, known for penning thrillers and horror books that both entertain and create intrigue in the minds of readers, made these comments during a recent interview with NPR. Considering the writer’s prominence, his views on God and intelligent design are noteworthy.

Horror Author Stephen King Believes in God and Says That the Universe Suggests Intelligent Design

Novelist Stephen King holds a Jack Kerouac bobble-head he received as a gift after speaking to creative writing students at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell in Lowell, Mass., Friday, Dec. 7, 2012. Credit: AP

So, what did he say, exactly?

During the exchange, King had some interesting words for atheists and those who are unsure about the existence of a higher power. In particular, he charged that these individuals miss all of the signs that overwhelmingly point to structure.

“I choose to believe it. … I mean, there’s no downside to that. If you say, ‘Well, OK, I don’t believe in God, there’s no evidence of God,’ then you’re missing the stars in the sky and you’re missing the sunrises and sunsets and you’re missing the fact that bees pollinate all these crops and keep us alive and the way that everything seems to work together,” he said.

All of these structures, he noted, suggest that the world was built by a higher power — a figure who organized everything and structured it accordingly.

“Everything is sort of built in a way that to me suggests intelligent design,” King added.

Holy Days: Pentecost (Feast of Weeks)

by Earl L. Henn (1934-1997)
Forerunner, "Bible Study," May 1996

As we study the meaning of God's holy days, a logical pattern surfaces that unlocks truths that remain a mystery to the vast majority of the world's people. The day of Pentecost symbolizes a major key to spiritual understanding because upon this day God sent His Holy Spirit to His church, providing Christ's disciples with the power, love and understanding to carry out the work of the church. This regeneration by the Holy Spirit, the key to understanding the spiritual principles of God's Word, opens our understanding of the plan that God is working out among humanity.

God established His holy days around the two major harvests of the year, a small one in the spring and a larger one in the fall. These harvest seasons typify two spiritual harvests. Pentecost, occurring in late spring, symbolizes the first spiritual harvest and reveals that this is not the only day of salvation. Those whom God calls now are merely a "pilot group" that He has specifically selected to be His "firstfruits." This day is also the anniversary of God's church—the beginning of the portion of God's master plan in which He calls people out of this evil world to create in them His holy, perfect, spiritual character.

1. During what three periods of the year did God command Israel to appear before Him? Exodus 23:14-16.

Comment: The "three times" are three general periods during which God's holy days fall. Passover and Unleavened Bread occur in early spring, the "Feast of Harvest" in late spring and the "Feast of Ingathering" in the fall.

2. How did the spring harvest begin? Leviticus 23:10-11, 14.

Comment: Before the Israelites could reap the spring crop, God commanded them to bring a sheaf of grain to the priest, who waved it before God for acceptance. This "wavesheaf offering" occurred on "the day after the Sabbath" that falls during the Feast of Unleavened Bread. {Actually this day is a High Sabbath that falls on the 8TH Day of Passover}

3. How do we determine when to observe Pentecost, also called "the Feast of Weeks"? Leviticus 23:15-16, 21.

Comment: This late spring holy day must be counted. God instructs us to count 50 days from the day that the wavesheaf was offered. This explains why this day is commonly called Pentecost, which means "count fifty."

4. What special offering did God command to be offered on Pentecost in the Old Testament? Leviticus 23:17.

Comment: God commanded that two loaves of bread be offered as firstfruits to God. These two loaves represent the Old and New Testament churches.

5. Are the members of God's church regarded as firstfruits? James 1:18; Revelation 14:4.

Comment: Pentecost, the Feast of Firstfruits, represents the first part of God's spiritual harvest. God is now calling a small number of people, the firstfruits, into His church. These people, who live in the world but are not part of it (John 17:15-16), are training to be the leaders in the World Tomorrow when God will work to save the whole world.

6. Is the end time a spiritual harvest? Matthew 13:24-30, 37-43.

Comment: "End of the age" (verse 39) refers to the time of Christ's second coming and the resurrection of the dead when God will reap the firstfruits of His harvest! The fifty days between the wavesheaf offering and Pentecost symbolize the time from the founding of the church to the end of the age when the small harvest of the firstfruits occurs.

7. What did the wavesheaf offering symbolize? I Corinthians 15:20-23.

Comment: Jesus Christ, the first of the firstfruits, willingly gave His life so others may receive forgiveness of sin. He was a holy, sinless sacrifice, and three days later, He was the first person resurrected to eternal life! In this, He fulfilled the symbolism of the wavesheaf offering.

8. Did Jesus have to be accepted just as the wavesheaf offering was? John 20:17.

Comment: Jesus was crucified on the day of the Passover in AD 31, which fell that year on a Wednesday. God resurrected Him at the end of the weekly Sabbath (Saturday). He appeared to Mary Magdalene the next morning, the day after the weekly Sabbath during Unleavened Bread, when the priests presented the wavesheaf offering. He did not permit her to touch Him because He had not yet ascended to the Father. Just as the High Priest had to wave the sheaf of grain before the spring harvest began, so our Savior had to ascend to the Father to be accepted before Him. Once this happened, He allowed His disciples to touch Him (cf. Matthew 28:9; John 20:20-28).

9. Did Christ's disciples observe Pentecost? Acts 2:1.

Comment: This was the Day of Pentecost exactly fifty days after Christ ascended to heaven{On FIRSTFRUITS, the 8th Day of Passover} to be accepted by the Father on the day the sheaf of grain was waved.

10. What happened then to fulfill a promise that Jesus had made to His disciples? Acts 2:2-4; John 14:16, 26.

11. Was the Holy Spirit to be IN the disciples as contrasted to dwelling WITH them? John 14:17.

Comment: During Jesus' life on earth, the Holy Spirit was with the disciples. After the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost, the Spirit was within them as it had been in Christ. At this time, the disciples were born from above by the Holy Spirit, marking the beginning of the church of God.

12. Did the early church continue to keep Pentecost after the Holy Spirit came? Acts 20:16; I Corinthians 16:8.

Comment: About 25 years after Christ's ascension into heaven, Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, hurried to be in Jerusalem in time for Pentecost! Just as the early church kept Pentecost every year, so the true church of God continues to keep it today as a continual reminder of our part in God's great master plan of salvation!

Looking to Fight Bugs This Summer? Innovative Repellent Ideas to Win the Battle (Including the Tool That’s Probably Already in Your Fridge)

Going on a hike or just outside pulling weeds in the garden, Amy Scher would recommend you use an insect repellent for most outdoor activities.

It’s not just an irritating scratch she wants to help people avoid, but more harmful effects like the disease that nearly killed her.

Innovative Insect Repellent Ideas And Why You Should Use One

(Photo: Wikimedia)

In the early 2000s, Scher went hiking in California and didn’t wear a repellent. Unknown to her at the time, a tick had latched on and gave her Lyme disease. For years, Scher began experiencing strange symptoms, which were misdiagnosed, as they often are with the tick-borne illness. But then things started getting worse.

In 2005, Scher was sitting in a Jacuzzi and lost all feeling in her legs.

“Everything went downhill from there,” she said.

Scher became bed ridden. Scans found lesions on her brain. The bacterial disease had spread to every organ in her body and into her bone marrow.

Scher was taking dozens of medication and antibiotics each day to fight the infection, and she eventually went to India for an experimental treatment, which she said helped boost her immune system so she could eventually fend off the disease. Even the lesions on her brain healed.

This is why Scher, now 33, advocates people wear an insect repellent.

“Anytime you would wear sunscreen, I would say put on insect repellent as well,” she said.

There are a variety of repellents on the market targeting everything from ticks to mosquitoes. Some are natural and some are chemical. Some are applied topically, while others take the form of a patch or create a perimeter around a designated space.

Dead Sea Scrolls fragments up for sale

'These are the most important things in the world'

JERUSALEM (AP) — Parts of the Dead Sea Scrolls are up for sale — in tiny pieces.

Nearly 70 years after the discovery of the world’s oldest biblical manuscripts, the Palestinian family who originally sold them to scholars and institutions is now quietly marketing the leftovers — fragments the family says it has kept in a Swiss safe deposit box all these years.

Most of these scraps are barely postage-stamp-sized, and some are blank. But in the last few years, evangelical Christian collectors and institutions in the US have forked out millions of dollars for a chunk of this archaeological treasure. This angers Israel’s government antiquities authority, which holds most of the scrolls, claims that every last scrap should be recognized as Israeli cultural property, and threatens to seize any more pieces that hit the market.

“I told Kando many years ago, as far as I’m concerned, he can die with those scrolls,” said Amir Ganor, head of the authority’s anti-looting squad, speaking of William Kando, who maintains his family’s Dead Sea Scrolls collection. “The scrolls’ only address is the State of Israel.”

Record-breaking 128lb Python that measures 18ft and 8in long is captured and killed in Florida

The biggest ever Python snake found in Florida, measuring 18 feet and 8 inches long, has been captured and killed.

The 128lb giant female reptile broke the previous record by over a foot.

The Burmese Python, an invasive species to the Florida Everglades, was found and killed by Jason Leon in a rural area southeast of Miami.

He managed to snare the snake after seeing part of its body sticking out the undergrowth.

With the help of a friend he killed the snake with a knife. According to University of Florida scientists, the snake was not carrying eggs.

Florida Wildlife officials later told him it was the biggest ever recorded in the state. The previous longest was 17ft and seven inches.

'We were riding and I saw something poking out on the side of the road. At first I didn't know what it was,' said Veronica Larios, who accompanied Leon to the Everglades.

In a video recorded by another friend Blake Jordan Leon can be seen grabbing the snake by it's neck.

Larios hands Leon a knife and helps him move the snake's body as it tried to coil around her friend.

Revelation 16, Matthew 24 Roy Acuff and Hank Williams

By Bob Barney
Are We in the Last Days (Prelim 1985)01“There is a mighty battle that is coming, and it is well now on its way,” words of a song by the legendary Roy Acuff recorded by the great hank Williams, Sr more than 60 years ago sums up what we are waiting for.  As the song states, it will be a sad day for the inhabitants of this world, and although we do not know the exact hour of this event, we were given by Christ a list of world events to watch and then how to prepare ourselves if we are the ones that will live during these times.

In Matthew 24 and Revelation 16, we are told that great armies will prepare for an end time great last battle which will plunge the earth into the greatest upheaval since the flood of Noah.  This is an event that will happen, as God is never wrong. We can hope and pray that it is not during our time, but it is best to always assume hat it could be. What are we to do? Build bomb shelters, or run to the desert?  Jesus actually told us not to be troubled, when all of this starts because this last battle must happen before His return to earth to rule it, subdue it and to end poverty, strife, war and death. The Day of the LORD will be hard for all, but those who stand by Christ, will see all of their preparation come to fruition.  Christ promised that after these horrible times, He is coming - and with him eternal life without fear of death, without sorrow or pain.

We must live everyday in this world, but we must also live everyday preparing ourselves just in case that day comes.

The Battle of Armageddon
Written by Roy Acuff and Odell Mcleod….Recorded by Hank Williams, sr.

There’s a mighty battle coming and it’s well now on it’s way.  Isaiah 13:9
It’ll be fought at armageddon, it shall be a sad, sad day.  Revelation 16:16
In the book of Revelation, words in chapter sixteen say   Revelation 16
There’ll be gathered there great armies for that battle on that day.
Revelation 16:16
All the way from the gates of Eden to the battle of Armageddon    2 Peter 3:4
There’s been troubles and tribulation, there’ll be sorrow and despair. Matt 24:9
He has said
"ye not be troubled for these things shall come to pass."  Matt 24:6
Then your life will be eternal when you dwell with him at last.    Revelation 20:4

Turn the pages of your Bible, in St. Matthew you will see,
Start with chapter 24 and read from 1 to 33.
In our savior’s words He said on earth, He prophesied,
For He spoke of this great battle that is coming by and by.
Revelation 16:16

There’ll be nation against nation, there’ll be war and rumor of war.
There’ll be great signs in heaven, in the sun, the moon, the stars.
Oh, the hearts of been shall fail them, there’ll be gnashing of the teeth.   Matt 24:51
Those who seek it will receive it, mercy at the Savior’s feet.

Isaac Newton meets Jerusalem Temple!

Stunning analysis sees Israeli real estate as roadmap to future events

© 2011 WND

Was the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem more than a place of worship? Was it, in addition, a roadmap to future events – a kind of prophetic landmark whose significance is only now revealed through the development of satellite imagery?

That is the contention of an explosive new book, "Temple at the Center of Time: Newton's Bible Codex Deciphered and the Year 2012," by David Flynn, a book that has risen dramatically on bestseller lists, and is available TODAY ONLY for just $4.95 – but only from WorldNetDaily.

The book asserts it has "deciphered Isaac Newton’s greatest paradox: None other than 'the unified field theory' of Bible prophecy."

Sir Isaac Newton was not only a great thinker in physics, the book explains, but had extensive knowledge of the Scriptures with a special interest in prophecy. Newton believed there was a hidden code, a type of time-encrypted language. He believed the key to deciphering this code was the Temple of Solomon. He wrote extensively on the length measurements of the Temple and suggested it intersected time and dimension, serving as a prophetic and supernatural structure.

According to Flynn, although Newton never cracked this code, he was on the right track and was limited only by the lack of sophisticated satellite technology.

"The description of Jerusalem as a terrestrial center point, situated in the center of the world, is found in Philo's Legatio and Gaium," Flynn notes. "The world is like a human eyeball. The white of the eye is the ocean surrounding the world, the iris is this continent, the pupil is Jerusalem, and the image in the pupil is the Holy Temple."

"A belief that the ancients held unusual scientific knowledge, of which only fragments remain today, was held by many great philosophers and scientists who participated in the 'scientific revolution,' explains the publisher's description of the book. "Though research by these men led to great discovery, many were convinced that they were merely scratching the surface of an immense but lost pristine knowledge … somehow reflected in the architecture and remains of ancient civilizations."

Now comes Flynn's treatise which takes on the explanation of the true form and nature of the original knowledge.

"For the first time in history, 'Temple at the Center of Time' uncovers what Newton was looking for and, in so doing, proves that pivotal events in history are unquestionably connected in time and space to Jerusalem," the review said. "Newton didn't know it. The key was right in front of him."

Among the mysteries addressed is the location now of the lost Ark of the Covenant.

Chilling 911 call made by NASCAR legend Dick Trickle before he ended his own life is released as his brother reveals he was plagued by a chronic mystery ailment that may have contributed to his depression

  • Former race car driver's brother Chuck says the NASCAR legend was distressed by a chronic pain in his chest
  • Dick Trickle called police to a North Carolina cemetery where he said his body would be found
  • Tricke's career spanned 24 years and included 2,200 races
  • Remembered for his fun and outrageous personality
  • Once drilled a hole in his helmet to allow him to smoke a cigarette and installed lighters in his vehicle

The chilling 911 call legendary NASCAR Dick Trickle made to a hapless 911 operator before he ended his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound was released today.

In the recording, Trickle matter-of-factly tells the female operator that he is at 'the Forest Lawn Cemetery at 150.' - where he was later found dead.

When the woman asks him for his name, he repeats the address, not once identifying himself as the racer who entertained generations with his extrovert driving skills.

The confused operator asks Trickle if he was there to witness one, but instead he chillingly responds with 'I'm the one'.

Stunned, the woman pleads with Trickle, saying 'listen to me' but Trickle simply repeats '150 Forest LAwn in the back by a Ford pickup.'

Lincoln Co. officials: Retired racecar driver Dick Trickle dies Thursday

Retired racecar driver Richard "Dick" Trickle, 71, died Thursday from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Lincoln County officials. The shooting occurred at 12:02 p.m. at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Highway 150 East in Boger City. The Lincoln County Communications Center received a call, apparently from Trickle, that "there would be a dead body and it would be his." Communications Center workers tried to place a return call to the number but did not get an answer. The first emergency units arriving at the scene found the body lying near Trickle's pickup truck. Trickle's granddaughter, Nicole Ann Bowman, is buried in the cemetery. She died in 2001 at age 16 in a car wreck. Trickle was a Lincoln County resident and had lived here since the early 1990s. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Dick Trickle on his passing today. Dick was a legend in the short-track racing community, particularly in his home state of Wisconsin, and he was a true fan favorite. Personalities like Dick Trickle helped shape our sport. He will be missed," said Brian France, NASCAR Chairman & CEO, in a statement.

Why the IRS Scandal Should Lead to Obama’s Impeachment

Richard Milhous Nixon, 37th President of the U...Richard Milhous Nixon, 37th President of the United States (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Wayne Allyn Root

Do you remember Nixon’s Articles of Impeachment? Right smack dab in the middle of President Richard Nixon’s list of crimes was using the IRS to punish his critics and political opponents. Don’t look now but we’ve got another Nixon in the White House.

The IRS is embroiled in a huge political scandal. But you don’t have the full story. Last week they admitted to targeting and intimidating conservative and Tea Party groups. But the scandal gets bigger by the hour.

The latest development is that top IRS officials and lawyers were in fact aware of this scandal since 2011, the very year I was targeted by the IRS.

It gets worse. It turns out the IRS was targeting Pro-Israel Jewish groups. It’s now gone from political targeting to racism and anti-semitism.

But here’s the big mystery- why would the IRS publicly admit this? The answer is simple- The IRS thought a quick apology, throwing a few “low level employees” under the bus, could nip it in the butt and make it all go away before the evidence leads directly to the president. They were wrong. This will grow into one of the biggest scandals in U.S. political history- if the media does their job. This should lead to Obama’s impeachment- if the media does their job.

How do I know this scandal is much bigger than what has been disclosed so far?

Because I’ve been living it. As an outspoken critic of Obama, I’ve been under IRS attack since January of 2011. I am living proof of how bad it is, when it started, and that it was directed at individuals, not just conservative groups.  MORE>>>>>>>>>>

Farmer heads to trial for … selling milk

Bob Unruh About | Email | Archive

The long-delayed trial for a Wisconsin farmer accused of selling milk is scheduled to begin soon amid the protests of supporters who believe authorities are stepping over the line.

The Wisconsin Department of Agricultural Trade and Consumer Protection has charged Vernon Hershberger with selling milk without a retail license.

His argument? He was only providing food products to paid members in a private buying club that should not fall under the state’s commercial retail regulations.

The trial originally was scheduled for last year.

Now, activists plan to meet May 20 in Baraboo, Wis., to support Hershberger, who is to face the beginning of a trial that day on four criminal misdemeanors that carry the  penalty of up to 30 months in jail with fines of more than $10,000.

State officials allege he was running a retail food establishment without a license.

“There is more at stake here than just a farmer and his few customers,” said Hershberger, “This is about the fundamental right of farmers and consumers to engage in peaceful, private, mutually consenting agreements for food, without additional oversight.”

Last year, food-rights activists from around the country stood in support of Hershberger at a pre-trial hearing. They read and signed a “Declaration of Food Independence” that asserts inherent rights in food choice.

After court proceedings each day during the trial, activists and others will gather at the Al Ringling Theater across the street from the courthouse and hear presentations by leaders in the food-rights movement. Notable speakers include Virginia farmer Joel Salatin, Mountain Man show star Eustace Conway and Maine food-rights organizer Deborah Evans.

Hershberger, like several others around the country, is facing charges for providing fresh foods to customers. In recent months the Food and Drug Administration  has conducted several undercover sting operations and raids against farmers and buying clubs that have resulted in farms shutting down and consumers without access to the food they depend on.

WND has reported on the dispute that has swept across the country.

The Farm to Consumers Legal Defense Fund said the case already has created ripples across the industry.

In Wisconsin, while the state Department of Agriculture “once supported farmers who offered raw dairy through direct-to-consumer sales,” the state agency has reversed its position under pressure from the FDA.

When the state legislature tried to block the newly developing crackdown on farmers who provide their products directly to consumers, the governor vetoed the proposal.

In the case, the state of Wisconsin is arguing it can regulate when consumers gain access to such products through private deals.

Pete Kennedy in a Farm-to-Consumer Legal Defense Fund commentary on the case wrote that the evidence will show that Hershberger had private contractual arrangements with the purchasers to provide the food.

“If Hershberger is convicted of the charges against him, it could have a chilling effect on consumer access to raw milk for those who don’t own and board their own cows. The farmer currently is leasing his cows to the Right to Choose Healthy Food Buyers Club,” he said earlier as the case was beginning to develop.

Kennedy noted that in a similar argument, a Dane County Circuit Court judge ruled that “owners of cows boarded at the Zinniker farm in Elkhorn could not legally obtain raw milk produced by their own cows at the farm.”

WND previously reported when the Weston A. Price Foundation criticized a federal study about outbreaks of illness blamed on raw milk. The Centers for Disease Control report said outbreaks because of raw milk were 150 times greater than outbreaks attributed to pasteurized milk, citing statistics from a 13-year period ending in 2006.

But the Price Foundation said the results were skewed because of the way federal report authors “cherry picked” data.

Sally Fallon Morell, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation, said the study listed an average of 315 illnesses a year “from all dairy products for which the pasteurization status was known.”

“Of those, there was an average of 112 illnesses each year attributed to all raw dairy products and 203 associated with pasteurized dairy products,” she said of the study period ending in 2006.

“The CDC’s data shows that there were significant outbreaks of foodborne illness linked to pasteurized dairy products the very next year, in 2007: 135 people became ill from pasteurized cheese contaminated with e.coli, and three people died from pasteurized milk contaminated with listeria,” the Price Foundation report said.

And shortly before the time frame for the study, there were 16,000 confirmed cases of Salmonella traced to pasteurized milk from a single dairy, the foundation reported.

The foundation suggested that the time frame was picked by government reporters to portray raw milk in a negative light.

It was in another case that the judge ruled that Americans simply do not have a right to choose their food, not even when they own the cows and the milk.

The judge decided in a fight over families’ access to milk from cows they own that Americans “do not have a fundamental right to consume the milk from their own cow.”

Circuit Court Judge Patrick J. Fiedler said the families who reported they were boarding their cows for a fee and then getting the milk instead were running a “dairy farm.”

“It’s always a surprise when a judge says you don’t have the fundamental right to consume the foods of your choice,” said Kennedy.

The judge wrote:

The court denied plaintiffs’ motion for summary judgment, which means the following:

(1) no, plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to own and use a dairy cow or a diary (sic) herd;
(2) no, plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to consume the milk from their own cow;
(3) no, plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to board their cow at the farm of a farmer;
(4) no, the Zinniker plaintiffs’ private contract does not fall outside the scope of the state’s police power;
(5) no, plaintiffs do not have a fundamental right to produce and consume the foods of their choice; and
“(6) no, the DATCP did not act in an ultra vires manner because it had jurisdiction to regulate the Zinniker plaintiffs’ conduct.

Illinois Seeks to Diminish Raw Milk, Prohibit 'Herd-sharing'

Heather Callaghan
Activist Post

A creepy omen has taken place in Illinois. Health department agents speaking at the department's Dairy Work Group meeting at the IL Corn Growers Association saw a vacuum in raw milk regulations. Uh oh, got to fill that void and tack on regulatory fines!

Did you know there's a Food, Drugs and Dairies division of their Department of Public Health? It really does sound like dairy is being lumped into drug regulations. Molly Lamb, division head, told Pantagraph:
[T]he department is seeking to put rules in place because right now there are none.
Here's how it goes. In Illinois, from-the-farm sales of unpasteurized milk are legal...for now. All other sales and interstate sales are not. Recently, at least a few dozen people gathered to speak to the IL Department of Public Health in Bloomington to peacefully protest the proposed regulations. They held signs that said "Don't criminalize me" and "Save family farms." The added regulations would burden the small farms - they say it will threaten their livelihood - and inhibit access from people who love raw milk and appreciate its nutritional benefits and humane treatment of cows, including lack of hormones and antibiotics.

How many conflicts can you find in these proposed rules:

The Hanging Gardens of... Nineveh? Lost Wonder of the Ancient World may have actually been 300 miles from Babylon

It has fired the imagination of historians and archaeologists for centuries, but the mystery of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon may finally have been solved - with a surprising twist.

A leading Oxford-based historian says the fabled gardens, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, were not built in Hillah by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. In fact they weren’t in Babylon at all.

Dr Stephanie Dalley, of Oxford University’s Oriental Institute, says the gardens were actually located 300 miles to the north in Nineveh, Babylon's rival, by the Assyrian ruler Sennacherib.

Glory of the ancients: A sixteenth century illustration of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which may not have been in Babylon at all. An Oxford historian claims they were actually built in the Assyrian city of Nineveh

Glory of the ancients: A sixteenth century illustration of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, which may not have been in Babylon at all. An Oxford historian claims they were actually built in the Assyrian city of Nineveh

She first put the proposal forward in 1992 and has spent 20 years piecing the mystery together, reports The Independent.

There are four key components of Dr Dalley's theory, which will be outlined in a book released later this month.

As she studied historical descriptions of the gardens, she discovered that a nineteenth century bas-relief from Sennacherib’s palace in Nineveh showed trees growing on a roofed colonnade exactly as described by early accounts.
