Jewish group promoting polygamy?

Synagogues across Israel flooded with tens of thousands of leaflets calling on Sephardic men to marry several women, claiming ancient custom now permissible under Jewish Law

Forward by Bob Barney: Read Isa 4:1  and see this prophecy begining to be fulfilled

Are we about to witness a new phenomenon in Israel in the coming years – one man married to several women? Tens of thousands of leaflets were distributed in synagogues across the country recently, promoting the ancient custom and presenting it as a solution for the single daughters of Israel.

The phenomenon of a man married to several women (polygamy) was common among the people of Israel in ancient times. King Solomon was married to 1,000 women, King Rehoboam had 78 wives, and King David had "only" 18.

Matchmaking?

'Over 30 and single? Try polygamy' / Ilana Curiel

Local Bedouin newspaper sparks calls on single Bedouin women who are over 30 to consider polygamous marriages, saying 'it's the Sharia solution'
Full story

About 1,000 years ago, however, Rabbi Gershom issued a ban on bigamy, forbidding the custom among Ashkenazi Jews. Sephardic men abandoned the tradition as well in the past centuries, settling for only one woman.

The ads distributed in the synagogues appeared in the "Shabbat B'Shabbato" weekly bulletin. They encourage Jewish Sephardic men to return to the ancient custom, and include a quote from a halachic paper written by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef several years ago, which does not rule out the polygamy phenomenon: "Courts imposing aggravated punishments on Sephardim over this matter are wrong."

It's unclear whether Rabbi Ovadia would still support polygamy these days, but the leaflet authors argue that according to Halacha, it is not longer forbidden among Sephardic circles today.

The flyers direct their readers to the website of the "Jewish Home" organization, which includes quotes from a series of rabbinical religious authorities throughout history, implying that the rule forbidding polygamy has expired. The website also includes personal stories of men and women with experience in polygamy.

The Srugim website revealed that the ads were funded by a group of single religious women who have given up on finding a match.

One of the women, 39, said: "I am a single religious woman who is afraid of losing the ability to become a mother." She added that there were 27 other women like her who would be happy to marry a married man.

"Shabbat B'Shabbato" editor, Rabbi Israel Rosen, expressed his reservations over the ad, explaining that ads published in the bulletin are not checked beforehand. He estimated that it was simply a joke.

'Torah is never wrong'

One of the people behind the new initiative is Rabbi Yechezkel Sofer. I telephoned him and introduced myself as a man who has had enough of living alongside just one woman. This is what the conversation sounded like:

Law and Grace

The Spirit of Grace ......Hebrews 10:29
The Righteousness of the Law ......Romans 2:26
Saved by Grace  -  Go and sin no more

INTRODUCTION

While it is true that legal matters can become very confusing, it must be remembered that Gods laws are plain and simple. They can be written in one paragraph, memorized by the smallest child and as the Bible states, are not grievous.

In an age when many turn the grace of God into lasciviousness, there are those, professing themselves to be wise, who attempt to persuade that the laws of God are now void and of no value. Such persuasion can be described in no better way than what the Bible calls "vain deceit."

Jesus Christ, our Creator, the law giver, and our Savior said that until heaven and earth pass away, not even the slightest thing concerning the law will change. We are told that sin is the transgression of the law and that Christ died for the remission of sins. In fact, if any of the commandments could have been changed, sin could have been redefined, and He would not have had to die.

We are also given Biblical warning that through the sacrificial death of Christ - as payment for our sins - and through faith in his shed blood, we receive forgiveness only for sins that are past - and that if we sin willingly, once we have come to the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sin, certain judgment and ultimate destruction.

We are told however, that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Only if we confess our sins.

Now if the servants of Satan can persuade us that God's laws are invalid, then sin, which is the transgression of those laws would never be confessed - and the wages of unconfessed sin is death.

Yes, Satan, our adversary as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. Be sober, be vigilant and remember "Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law..."

Is It Too Late To Buy American?

Lois Rain, Contributing Writer
Activist Post

Even America’s cloud has a silver lining. Just as reports tried to rally spirits with statistics about the decrease in unemployment, some major companies went down, leading to a whopping number of layoffs.

Meanwhile, ABC News, showed how a typical American family could in fact meet all of their needs with only American-made products. How many American-made companies are there? “Too many to count.”

Surprisingly, little tweaks in buying habits really can save the jobs of our fellow men and women. It is good news, because it shows that no matter how hopeless the job situation gets, some degree of recovery is possible with positive action. Just like the human body, some positive changes can lead to a recovery that is quicker than the time it took to develop ill health.

But is it to late?

Tea partiers get restless with Republican leadership

Several tea-party leaders are getting frustrated with the Republicans in Congress and are making their voices heard.

Tea Party Nation Founder and President Judson Phillips has made the rounds of the talk shows to denounce the Republicans for giving in to Democratic pressure.

Phillips says the GOP has capitulated because it's not really a conservative party.

"You've got a wide range of viewpoints in the Republican Party," Phillips observed, "everything from good solid conservatives, good solid tea-party folks to RINOs [Republicans in name only] to folks who probably would be equally at home in the Democratic Party.

"The American people spoke loudly in this past election, which saw a shift of 60-some-odd seats in the House of Representatives. We've never had that big of a shift in the Congress before," Phillips continued. "People spoke very clearly about what they wanted."

How corporations avoid paying income taxes

With all the talk about how companies like General Electric and Cisco pay no or very low U.S. taxes, reader Hal Helfan of Oakland wants to know why can't there be an alternative minimum tax for corporations like there is for individuals, to make sure that companies can't use loopholes to wipe out their tax burden.

"If the AMT rate were set appropriately, it would probably be easier to lower the corporate tax rate and would definitely be a boon to small corporations that don't get much benefit from tax credits," he writes.

In fact there is a corporate AMT, and it works very much like the individual AMT.

Corporations figure their tax under the regular system, which taxes corporate profits at a top rate of 35 percent. Then they figure it under the AMT system, which tosses out some deductions allowed under the regular system, and taxes the resulting profit at 20 percent. The corporation then pays whichever tax is higher.

Many large corporations are subject to AMT, especially capital-intensive companies that lose depreciation and other deductions under AMT.

But there are two problems with the AMT. Although it's extremely complex to comply with, it's not all that tough.

"It's more than anything a nuisance revenue raiser," says Martin Sullivan, a contributing editor to Tax Analysts.

More important, it does not apply to the profits that U.S. companies earn or purport to earn abroad. U.S. multinationals have found myriad ways to shift profits to foreign tax havens.

2012: The End of the World As We Know It

By on 7.20.11 @ 6:08AM

Like a replicating amoeba, America is pulling apart into two separate cultures. One is strongly committed to the birth of an even more robust, pro-growth, entrepreneurial capitalism. The other thinks Che Guevara and Karl Marx had important social insights relevant to America today, and wants to follow the path of Juan Peron 's Argentina, if not Hugo Chavez's Venezuela. This is the stark choice facing the American people in 2012.

This is also why the vast majority of the American heartland feels more cultural affinity with the people of New Zealand and Australia than with the people of San Francisco and Seattle, at least as reflected by the majority of those two benighted cities. But the replicating amoeba analogy is not apt, because amoebas split into two equal new entities. What the American people are about to demonstrate in 2012 is that the heartland's vision of a booming economy restoring America's traditional world-leading prosperity and superpower might is shared by far more citizens than you might think, and that the long outdated socialist vision of the "progressive" American Left, for whom that traditional American prosperity and superpower status is a moral embarrassment, is fading into oblivion.

'Irrefutable' proof of Obama forgery

By Jerome R. Corsi

NEW YORK – Unless the typewriter used to type Barack Obama's purported Hawaiian "Certificate of Live Birth" in 1961 was magically capable of producing different size and shaped images with the exact same key, the document released by the White House April 27 is a forgery, says a professional typographer with 50 years experience.

"Steel-stamped letters do not expand to larger sizes and morph into different styles of type," retired New York City typographer Paul Irey told WND.

As WND previously reported, it would be impossible for the different letters that appear in the Obama birth certificate to have been typed by one typewriter, according to Irey.

"These are irrefutable proofs of forgery," he said.

His newest analysis suggests the document was assembled from images of letters or words taken from other documents.

"The forger who produced the Obama Hawaii long-form birth certificate may have thought that all typewriter typeface styles were alike," he said.

A Closer Look at the Biblical Clues

“They’re looking in the wrong place!” exclaim Indiana Jones and his Egyptian friend in the movie Raiders of the Lost Ark, as they realize, rather gleefully, that the bad guys have misinterpreted a clue on the location of the biblical Ark of the Covenant. Similarly (maybe not as gleefully), I suggest that searchers for the remains of the other biblical Ark, that of Noah, have been looking hard in places not suggested by Scripture. Instead, the clues seem point to a location somewhere in the Zagros Mountains just east of southern Iraq.

You may wonder why I’m dubious about the traditional site, a spectacular 18,000-foot (5,500 m) volcanic cone called Agri Dagh, or “Mount Ararat” in English maps. It is in eastern Turkey, near the center of the old Roman province of Armenia.1 I have doubts for several reasons. First, many centuries of searching that mountain have yielded nothing more tangible than unverified verbal accounts, fuzzy photos of possible rock formations, pieces of wood of dubious age and sources, and a number of outright frauds. Second, several creationist geoscientists have said that “Mount Ararat” is a post-Flood volcano.2 That is, the cone rose up after the receding floodwaters gouged out local river valleys and established drainage patterns, therefore not being the place the Ark came to rest while the waters were receding. Third, its location, about 270 km (170 miles) north of the northern border of Iraq, through rough mountainous terrain, doesn’t seem to fit the biblical clues.

So what are the biblical clues? First, there is Genesis 8:4,

And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat….

Roman-era shipwreck reveals ancient medical secrets

A wooden chest discovered on board the vessel contained pills made of ground-up vegetables, herbs and plants such as celery, onions, carrots, cabbage, alfalfa and chestnuts – all ingredients referred to in classical medical texts.

The tablets, which were so well sealed that they miraculously survived being under water for more than two millennia, also contain extracts of parsley, nasturtium, radish, yarrow and hibiscus.  Read More>>>

State programmer identifies template for Obama 'forgery'

A prominent software engineer claims the Obama birth certificate released by the White House was forged by using as templates the birth certificates of twins born in Hawaii one day after the president.

The engineer, a high-level programmer for a state government, spoke on condition of anonymity but contends his analysis is self-evident. He previously, as WND reported, presented evidence that the signature of Obama's mother on the president's document is proof of fraud.    Read more: State programmer identifies template for Obama 'forgery' http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=321561#ixzz1RzDO0M8w

Archaeologists Excavate Biblical Giant Goliath's Hometown

They haven't found the slingshot -- not yet anyway.

But as archaeologists continue excavation at Gath -- the Biblical home of Goliath, the giant warrior improbably felled by the young shepherd David and his sling -- they are piecing together the history of the Philistines, a people remembered chiefly as the bad guys of the Hebrew Bible.

Close to three millennia ago, the city of Gath was on the frontier between the Philistines, who occupied the Mediterranean coastal plain, and the Israelites, who controlled the inland hills. The city's most famous resident, according to the Book of Samuel, was Goliath, famously felled by a well slung stone.

What happened to the American flags on the moon?

As a symbol of the Fourth of July holiday, it is easy for the conversation this time of year to turn to iconic American flags, like the flag the Marines raised at Iwo Jima; the one firefighters put up at ground zero; and the one that flew over Fort McHenry and was the inspiration for what would become our national anthem.

As the space shuttle program comes to an end this week, CBS News decided to look into the flags the astronauts left behind on six trips to the moon. What's become of them?

Mathematical 'proof' Obama birth certificate a forgery

The signature of President Obama's mother on the White House-released long-form birth certificate provides a mathematically certain proof of forgery, according to a prominent software engineer who works as a high-level programmer for a state government.

The source spoke on condition his name not be used, fearing he might lose his job. He asserted that revealing his name is not necessary, because the analysis is self-evident.

Many computer experts have noted that the PDF Obama birth certificate released April 27 has nine layers when viewed in Adobe Illustrator.

Notably, the name "(Stanley) Ann Dunham Obama" is in two separate layers. "(Stanley) Ann D" is contained in Layer 8 while "unham Obama" is in Layer 9, as seen below in Exhibit 1.

Reflections On The 4th Of July

Blessing You get what you pay for. Or, more precisely, you get what you work for. Over 230 years ago, a group of colonists on the edge of the new world realized that the freedom they traveled halfway across the planet searching for would never be, unless, that is, they finally confronted the iron-fisted enemy they once ran from.
Their Declaration of Independence was a struggle in itself. Most Americans at that time were not resolved to support revolution. Many were undecided even after the war was won. Ultimately, the most powerful and pervasive empire on earth at that time, the British Empire, was defeated by a mere portion of the American population; farmers, craftsmen, tradesmen, frontiersmen, who had fought with such force of will, with such passion, that they were able to convince other nations (like France) that such a thing could even be achieved. In that moment, they transformed the shape of the Earth forever. The impossible was now, indeed, possible. The great shadow of elitism and autocracy was not only vulnerable; it could be crushed by the likes of so called “peasants”. The common man could determine his own destiny, and shape his own government. No matter what had happened before, or what has happened since, no one, and nothing, could erase that moment from time, when the leviathan was cast down, and men tasted true freedom.
You get what you work for.

Brian Reilly next to his '68 Ford Fairlane

In 1993 Brian Reilly, a self-professed "Ford nut" wanted to purchase a convertible. After an extended search, he found a diamond blue, 1968 Ford Fairlane in Seattle.

Little did he know, he had just stumbled upon a unique piece of television history.

Being an avid fan of Ford Fairlanes, Reilly noticed a few things about the car that seemed "somewhat unusual," including its large, 390 GT engine, which Reilly says that model didn't usually have.
