Banking analyst Meredith Whitney was made to eat her words on CNBC Wednesday after she called Tea Party members “freaked out white men who are unemployed.” Rick Santelli, who appeared on the program shortly after Whitney’s rant, ended up launching into the CNBC contributor for her comments. And it got pretty heated.
Santelli stated that the last person who said anything close to what Whitney did was “King George” when he was referring to the “colonists.” Santelli inferred that Whitney would have thought our Founding Father’s were “angry” as well when he said, “I don’t need to rant… You know, those were our Founding Fathers.”
Santelli was responding to the following statement made by Whitney:
I would suggest that the debate is really around unemployment, and I think that, you know, call the Tea Party whatever you will, the fringe element is, you know, I characterize freaked out white men who are unemployed and have been unemployed for three years and they’re scared to death. And three to four million of them are just about to roll off of unemployment benefits in the next three months. So, this is only going to get worse. For this reason, you have to deal with structural issues. So, if you are a Machiavellian Democrat, you want to deal with this issue and defuse the Tea Party as fast as you possibly can, because this poses the biggest threat to their reelection I think in ’12.

A new scientific poll indicates that Americans by significant numbers want Washington to stop spending away the future, and a stunning 4 in 10 believe if the debt ceiling isn't raised, President Obama will punish the public with the way he allocates the hundreds of billions of dollars available.
The July 16-18 poll contacted 1,096 respondents through a telephone survey. The Wenzel Strategies project carries a margin of error of 2.93 percent.
It showed that 54.4 percent of the respondents believe the nation's fiscal situation should be fixed with cuts in government spending, while 21.4 percent say the debt ceiling should be raised so President Obama can borrow and spend more money, and 16.6 percent – led by Democrats – believe the government should raise taxes.

Several tea-party leaders are getting frustrated with the Republicans in Congress and are making their voices heard.
Tea Party Nation Founder and President Judson Phillips has made the rounds of the talk shows to denounce the Republicans for giving in to Democratic pressure.
Phillips says the GOP has capitulated because it's not really a conservative party.
"You've got a wide range of viewpoints in the Republican Party," Phillips observed, "everything from good solid conservatives, good solid tea-party folks to RINOs [Republicans in name only] to folks who probably would be equally at home in the Democratic Party.
"The American people spoke loudly in this past election, which saw a shift of 60-some-odd seats in the House of Representatives. We've never had that big of a shift in the Congress before," Phillips continued. "People spoke very clearly about what they wanted."

While the Tea Party movement has largely been viewed as a resurgence in conservative values away from big government Republican politicians, its fiscal policies are attracting a new crowd: fiscally conservative Democrats.
With remarks from both Rep. Michele Bachmann and Republican National Committee chairman Michael Steele that the Tea Party embraces a number of disaffected Democrats, but arguments from Democrats that the Tea Party will never vote for anyone besides a Republican, it remains unclear what effect the more liberal faction of the Tea Party will have on the 2012 elections.

A Congressional Budget Office analysis of the fiscal 2011 spending deal that Congress will vote on Thursday concludes that it would cut spending this year by less than one-tenth of what both Republicans or Democrats have claimed.
A comparison prepared by the CBO shows that the omnibus spending bill, advertised as containing some $38.5 billion in cuts, will only reduce federal outlays by $352 million below 2010 spending rates. The nonpartisan budget agency also projects that total outlays are actually some $3.3 billion more than in 2010, if emergency spending is included in the total.
The astonishing result, according to CBO, is the result of several factors: increases in spending, especially at the Defense Department; decisions to draw over half of the savings from recissions; and cuts to reserve funds and and money for mandatory-spending programs that might never have been spent.
Also from National Journal …
10 Years, 10 Broken Debt Ceilings
National Journal previously reported that after removing rescissions, cuts to reserve funds, and reductions in mandatory-spending programs, discretionary spending would be reduced only by $14.7 billion. CBO’s analysis, which takes into account the likelihood that certain authorized funding will never be spent, suggests that the actual cuts will be even smaller.
With some conservatives already opposing the deal for not going far enough to meet the GOP campaign pledges to cut $100 billion, the news could complicate House Republicans' efforts to pass the bill. The minimal effect on current government spending, however, could improve macroeconomic forecasts that predicted lower economic growth if government spending was drastically reduced.
The CBO did confirm that spending would remain nearly $80 billion below what President Obama requested in his fiscal 2011 budget request, and Republicans can point to long-term savings as a result of lowering the government’s spending baseline.
“It is kind of crazy to have come to the brink of shutting down the government over a $350 million difference,” said Scott Lilly, a former staff director at the Appropriations Committee under Chairman David Obey, D-Wisc.

Let me start today with some numbers so I can immediately put you to sleep.
In fiscal year 2009, Washington said the country had a deficit of $1.4 trillion. In fiscal year 2010, which ended last September, Washington was pleased to announce that the deficit was only $1.3 trillion.
I don't know about you but I do not find either of those numbers comforting, especially when the total debt being carried by the US is now a stunning $13.5 trillion. Remember the good ol' days -- like in the early 2000s -- when annual deficits that skyrocketed to, say, $200 billion or $250 billion were found to be appalling?
Trillions! We are now talking trillions!
Remember when we could go to war just for the fun of it and not have to worry about how we were going to pay for the bombs? (That's sarcasm, folks, don't send me nasty letters.)
Today's deficit numbers are absolutely, totally, completely insane. And they are also inaccurate.
That's my theme for today.
Even as Congress this week nips and tucks gently at the nation's spending to come up with a billion here and a billion there in cuts so the government won't be shut down, the deficit is far more out of control than you are being told.
Here are the exact deficit numbers, which you can get from: http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np
And so you don't get the wrong impression, this is a Web site put together by the US Treasury and not conservative fiscal reformers who think the economy should be flogged with cutbacks.
Washington is telling you that the deficit was just $1.3 trillion for the year ended September. Well, grab this table, plug in the starting date of Sept. 30, 2009, and the ending date of Oct. 1, 2010, and here's what you get.
The nation's total debt at the end of Sept. 2009 was (rounded off) $11.910 trillion. By the beginning of Oct. 2010, total debt had risen to $13.611 trillion. (It's larger now because we are halfway into the 2011 fiscal year.)
Now I'm going to take out my $1 solar powered calculator to do the math. Feel free to do it with me: $13.610 trillion debt in fiscal 2010, minus $11.909 trillion debt in fiscal 2009 = $1.702 trillion deficit for 2010.
So we didn't have a $1.3 trillion deficit like the politicians want us to believe. It was really $1.702 trillion, which is worse than the official number by $402 billion. Jeez!
Why the discrepancy? Because our elected officials don't count the money they took from the Social Security Trust Fund, which will eventually have to be paid back, just like the dough we borrowed from the Chinese or money your Aunt Myrtle gave to Washington when she bought a US Savings Bond.
Should Washington be considering massive budget cuts? Probably not, because the economy is still very fragile and could very easily head back into a recession.
But on the other hand, we can't keep spending like this. This is what you call a dilemma. And I'm glad I only have to write about the problem, and don't have to fix it. Washington is now putting on a show: shut the federal government, or raise the debt limit and keep it going?
It's bad theater. I never liked farces.
The government can't shut down -- not if people who rely on benefits from Washington want to keep eating and going to the doctor, and if we want to continue fighting three simultaneous wars.
How'd we get into this mess? Well, it's simple: people fell asleep when Washington started talking about the numbers.

I recently met with a conservative Texas Congressman. I will not reveal his name because he did not give me permission and because it’s not the first time I have heard what he told me concerning the disappointing performance of Republican House Leadership since they were returned to power.
“What is it about the November election that Republican leadership doesn’t understand?” That is the first question I ask any Republican elected official who works in Washington. Each response from the numerous conservative Congressmen has been some variation of “they just don’t get it.” The Congressman who I met with said basically what I already knew, “House leadership has no plan to cut spending, repeal ObamaCare and is not conservative.”
Beyond that, the Congressman reported that he’s even heard Speaker Boehner speak derogatorily of the tea party behind closed doors. I’m not surprised. I have often said the Republican elite would like to see the tea party movement go away much more than the Democrats. I spoke last month with another Texas conservative Congressman who reported that Boehner has surrounded himself with “yes” men who are not conservatives and, if they once were, have sold their souls for leadership positions. Do you hear me Jeb Hensarling?
It’s this simple, the House Republican leaders have no plan to cut real federal spending or to repeal ObamaCare. Repealing or defunding ObamaCare was the ONE priority Americans sent the Republicans to do when they were returned to power in the House. I began to sense how things would be when Republicans pledged to cut spending by only $100 billion. $100 billion? Wow. Veni, vidi, durmi! I came, I saw, I yawned! We have a $1.65 TRILLION deficit this year alone! And, of course, Republican leadership has already retreated from the $100 billion to a measly $51 billion. You have to hand it to Republicans, they never fail to disappoint!

KROFT: Do you believe in God?
Mr. SOROS: No.
KROFT: (Voiceover) Soros told us he believes God was created by man, not the other way around, which may be why he thinks he can smooth out the world’s imperfections.

From Eric Dondero:
The loss of Tea Party libertarian/conservative Sharron Angle to Harry Reid was very painful for pro-liberty Republicans. However, there was another race in Nevada - a big win for the GOP - that you're not hearing anything about.
Incumbent Democrat Congresswoman Dina Titus was defeated for reelection by hardline Tea Party Republican Joe Heck. Nevada's 3rd CD consists of Las Vegas suburbs south to the Arizona border. The election was very close. Heck prevailed with 48.2% to Titus at 47.4%. MORE

A former leader of a '70s protest group responsible for bombing the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, police stations and other targets is worried that "racist, armed, hostile, crazy-making" tea parties pose an "unspeakable" threat to America.
Bernardine Dohrn, who with her husband William Ayers were leaders of the communist revolutionary Weather Underground, had been tied to so many acts of protest violence in the '70s that she was placed on the FBI's Top 10 Most Wanted List and was described by J. Edgar Hoover as the "most dangerous woman in America."
Her association with Barack Obama notably led to Sarah Palin's famous comment during the 2008 presidential campaign that Obama had been "palling around with terrorists."

A new CBS News poll found the public rejecting President Barack Obama and Democrats – so the CBS Evening News focused its story on discrediting the legitimacy of the Tea Party movement. “Tonight, 26 days til the elections,” Katie Couric teased, “a CBS News poll finds support for Republicans growing, but most Americans don't believe the Tea Party represents them.” Couric proceeded to highlight how “45 percent of likely voters would choose the Republican candidate, 37 percent the Democrat” and Obama's disapproval on the economy is soaring while “two out of three think he's been only an average or poor President so far.”
Couric then pivoted, however, to how “that would no doubt include members of the Tea Party,” and asked: “But do most Americans agree with the movement's agenda?” Reporter Dean Reynolds set up a straw man and shot it down: “While they style themselves as insurgents angry at both parties, the CBS News poll says 81 percent intend to vote Republican next month.” He next tried to discredit the movement for its demographics: “Tea Partiers are overwhelmingly white, male, protestant...” Reynolds demanded of a Tea Party supporter: “ Where would we be today were it not for the stimulus or the bailouts of the banks and the auto industry?”
The Chicago-based Reynolds stressed how “the poll found that only 30 percent of the country believes the Tea Partiers reflect the views of most Americans, 41 percent of the country does not.” A Chicago resident charged: “They represent a very small sliver of Americans who are upset about paying taxes. There's always going to be people who don't want to pay taxes.” Reynolds concluded that “despite all the publicity it's generated, only 22 percent of Americans view the movement favorably.”

The nation's biggest, richest and most powerful labor unions spent months organizing the "One Nation Working Together" rally at the Lincoln Memorial Saturday. With midterm elections approaching, they hoped to put on a show of political strength to energize struggling Democratic candidates. But even after giving it everything they had, they still weren't able to draw as many people as Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally in August. Why not?
Because the labor movement is shrinking, aging and divided. Because the best program its leaders (and co-sponsors at the NAACP) could put together was one featuring Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Richard Trumka, Van Jones and Harry Belafonte. And because George W. Bush is no longer in the White House. Put those factors together, and Big Labor's big march fell flat.

A new poll released this week soundly contradicts critics' claims that the tea-party movement is "fringe," "white" and "racist."
PJTV's Tea Party Tracking Poll has monitored nationwide sentiments toward the tea party on a weekly basis since Aug. 2. The poll's most recent reports reveal the following results:
The last statistic caught the attention of PJTV.
"Questions of racism within the tea party have been raised for months now," said PJTV's Polling Director Vik Rubenfeld in a statement. "Our survey found that more than one in three African-Americans support the movement. Moreover, the data revealed that 32 percent are also likely to vote for a congressional candidate whom the tea party supports."
Joe Hicks, PJTV host and former executive director for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, said the poll "shows that, for many black voters, race no longer serves as a rationale for supporting policies that undermine their economic interests."
"Democrats and leftists have attempted to define the tea-party movement as a collection of angry white bigots," he said. "However, the PJTV poll of black voters shows the wheels on the race-card bus are beginning to fall off." READ MORE

(CNSNews.com) – Local officials in Ohio’s Andover Township have denied the use of their public square for a celebration of Constitution Day because of the “political affiliation” of its organizers.
Several residents of the small central Ohio town formed The Andover Tea Party in May 2010, and in that same month, they asked to use the square for a rally to commemorate Constitution Day, which celebrates the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.
But on July 19, a trustee informed one of the tea party organizers, Margaret Slingluff, that they would not be allowed to hold the event, which would have included singers performing patriotic songs and public policy-related speakers, in the square. In an official letter dated Aug. 25, the trustee said the reason was “due to your group’s political affiliation.” MORE

In St. Louis, the large crowd today gathered under the famed Gateway Arch. In Washington, D.C., the U.S. Capitol served as a familiar backdrop for this year’s 9/12 March on Washington. And in a state all-too familiar with big government, high taxes and mounting debt, protestors gathered in Sacramento, Calif. to make their voices heard.
Though St. Louis and Sacramento boasted more ideal weather, a late-summer rainy day in the nation‘s capital didn’t dampen the spirits of tens of thousands of marchers. As far as I could tell, rally-goers were just as energized about lower taxes and smaller government today as they were one year ago. Though some things have changed since last year’s 9/12 taxpayer march — including the passage of President Obama’s landmark health care overhaul — the proximity of the upcoming midterm elections had the crowd fired up as they pledged to “remember in November.”

Soros and the foundation left have launched a website designed to go after the growing Tea Party movement. Teapartytracker.org will be sponsored by the NAACP, Think Progress, New Left Media and Media Matters for America. Think Progress is a George Soros operation connected to John Podesta’s Center for American Progress. Podesta is Clinton’s former chief of staff. Media Matters for America is the brainchild of a MoveOn consultant and Podesta’s Center for American Progress. Soros is a major supporter of MoveOn.
On July 13, the NAACP unanimously passed a resolution repudiating the Tea Party for alleged racism. The resolution followed accusations that the Tea Party had accosted members the Congressional Black Caucus as they traipsed the district of criminals mall on their way to vote for Obamacare, a grand larceny scam cooked up by large corporations. “Civil rights icon John Lewis was spit on, while Congressman Emanuel Cleaver was called the ‘N’ word and openly gay Congressman Barney Frank was called an ugly anti-gay slur,” a press released issued by the NAACP claims.

Hundreds of thousands of Americans already have marched on Washington, D.C., and millions have been energized by the nationwide tea-party movement, but from Sept. 9-12, the patriotic protesters will gather again in the nation's capital to pick up the tools they say are needed to "take back America."
More than just another rally, the 2010 March on D.C. is a four-day long series of events, combining the efforts of more than 50 grassroots organizations and targeted at training and equipping tea partiers to make a difference in the 2010 elections and beyond.
"This will be probably be the most important election in any of our lives," declares Stephani Scruggs, national co-chair of The 9.12 Project and president of Unite In Action, which have spearheaded organization of the event. "But November doesn't fix everything. We need to teach people how to protect their local areas, states and regions from sharia law, government land grabs, rogue school boards and any attempts to erode American freedom.
Here's the latest information about the coming "Tea Party at Sea."
"So what we're doing is real, classroom training," Scruggs told WND. "There's been a lot of events with famous people and politicians talking, but what we wanted to do differently was to allow people to go home on the Monday afterward with the tools to preserve liberty for the long term."
The four-day event, which will be based at Washington's Omni Shoreham Hotel, will include a symposium of training events – including the Young Patriots Tour, the Religious Leaders Roundtable and others – as well as presentations and seminars by over a dozen grassroots groups, a concert, VIP reception, ladies' banquet and an expo featuring displays and exhibits from a myriad of tea-party organizations.
Best of all, Scruggs told WND, the Liberty XPO (Xhibit of Patriot Organizations) and Syposium, which includes the training seminars and presentations, will be free.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Backed by the Tea Party Express and Sarah Palin, a little-known conservative lawyer from Alaska became the latest newcomer to the national political stage to take down an incumbent in 2010.
In arguably the biggest political upset of the year, Joe Miller claimed the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate when incumbent GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski conceded Tuesday evening. Murkowski gave up after failing to gain much ground in an count of outstanding absentee ballots.
Miller will be the favorite in November in strongly Republican Alaska against Democrat Scott McAdams, the mayor of Sitka.
