Justin Wilson, 37, suffered a head injury on Sunday after debris broke off Sage Karam's car when he spun into the wall during the closing laps of the penultimate race in the IndyCar Series. Oil from the liver of Gadus sp. (particularly G. morhua, or Atlantic cod) has helped humankind for centuries—in the tanning of hides, as a fuel for lamps, in liquid soaps, and even as a base for the red ochre paints frequently used on buildings in the picturesque fishing villages that dot the shores of the northern Atlantic Ocean.
Cod liver and its oil have also long been used as foods in this region, as can be seen in traditional dishes such as Norwegian mølje, made from separately cooked cod flesh, liver, and roe, with drizzles of the fresh oil. The Russian zakuski tables—sumptuous buffets of hors d’oeuvres—often included salat iz pecheni treski, a salad featuring cod liver and its oil. Dishes using various parts of the cod, such as the heads, stomachs, and even the roe stuffed with the livers, were common in Newfoundland, Scotland, Iceland, and other Northern European cultures—with the oil adding flavor and a nutritional boost.

Top Vatican adviser Jeffrey Sachs says that when Pope Francis visits the United States in September, he will directly challenge the “American idea” of God-given rights embodied in the Declaration of Independence.
Sachs, a special advisor to the United Nations and director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, is a media superstar who can always be counted on to pontificate endlessly on such topics as income inequality and global health. This time, writing in a Catholic publication, he may have gone off his rocker, revealing the real global game plan.
The United States, Sachs writes in the Jesuit publication, America, is “a society in thrall” to the idea of unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. But the “urgent core of Francis’ message” will be to challenge this “American idea” by “proclaiming that the path to happiness lies not solely or mainly through the defense of rights but through the exercise of virtues, most notably justice and charity.”
In these extraordinary comments, which constitute a frontal assault on the American idea of freedom and national sovereignty, Sachs has made it clear that he hopes to enlist the Vatican in a global campaign to increase the power of global or foreign-dominated organizations and movements.
Sachs takes aim at the phrase, which comes from America’s founding document, the United States Declaration of Independence, that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

It's estimated that 1 billion copies have been printed since the first volume rolled off the press in 1611.
The King James Version of the Bible, also known as the "Authorized Version," marks its 400th anniversary in 2011, and by any measure, it has had a lasting impact on the world and on the language into which it was sent. The "authorized" moniker comes from a title-page declaration that this Bible was "authorized to be read in churches."
"The sheer poetry of the King James Version, not to mention its almost half-millennium of absolute authority, militates against its slipping into obscurity any time soon," declared Phyllis Tickle, longtime religion editor at Publishers Weekly magazine.
Even noted atheist Richard Dawkins has praise for the volume: "You can't appreciate English literature unless you are to some extent steeped in the King James Bible. There are phrases that come from it — people don't realize they come from it — proverbial phrases, phrases that make echoes in people's minds," he said in a video released by the King James Bible Trust, the British organization that is one promoter of the 400th-anniversary celebrations due next year.
"Not to know the King James Bible is to be, in some small way, barbarian," Mr. Dawkins added.
Indeed, many of its phrases have entered everyday use, among them: "my brother's keeper," "salt of the earth," "give up the ghost," "scapegoats," "an eye for an eye," "casting your pearls before swine," "scarlet woman," "writing on the wall" and "the blind leading the blind."
"A house divided against itself," Lincoln's signature sentiment, was translated that way 250 years before Lincoln was elected president.
Geof Morin, communications director for the American Bible Society, whose New York headquarters will host a King James Bible exhibit next year, called the King James "still relevant" in the age of Twitter and Facebook.
"It was the Bible staring Thomas Jefferson in the face," Mr. Morin said. Its words, he added, were "in the speeches of Abraham Lincoln. It's the language we still use today. It's part of the American psyche, of how we see ourselves as a nation."
But before the KJV — as the version is known by many readers and scholars — came into America's consciousness, it had to arrive on the scene at all. That happened following a contentious 1604 meeting at Hampton Court palace, when a young James VI of Scotland, newly crowned as James I of England, was trying to iron out differences between the Church of England and a dissident sect known as the Puritans.

The Israel Minister of Housing and Construction Uri Ariel on Friday expressed his wish to see the construction of a “Third Temple” in place of the Al-Aqsa Mosque that is currently occupying the temple mount. Uri Ariel said “The first Temple was destroyed in 586 BCE, the second Temple in 70 CE, and ever since the Jewish People have been mourning its loss.”
He then went on to say “Al-Aqsa Mosque is currently in place of the temple, despite the temple being much holier than it. Al-Aqsa Mosque is only the third most holy mosque in Islam.” “Now that Israel has once again become a Jewish sovereign state, the desire to rebuild the Temple is growing stronger and strong” he added.

Washington Post journalist Bob Woodward, one of the lead reporters into the Watergate scandal that brought down the Nixon administration, said that Hillary Clinton’s private emails reminded him of President Nixon’s secret tapes on Monday’s Morning Joe.
After months of refusals, Clinton agreed to turn over her private server to the FBI after another inspector general found top-secret material on her emails.
“In a way, [it] reminds me of the Nixon tapes,” Woodward said. “Thousands of hours of secretly recorded conversations that Nixon thought were exclusively his, that he was not going to get them.”
Host Joe Scarborough said that many people at the FBI and the intel community are asking the same question.
“Why did they allow Hillary Clinton and David Kendall, her lawyer, to decide whether they were going to turn over that classified information or not?” Scarborough asked. “I think this is unprecedented.”
“Hillary Clinton initially took that position,” Woodward said. “I’m not turning this over. There’s going to be no cooperation. Now they’re cooperating. But, this has to go on a long, long time. And the answers are probably not going to be pretty.”
The 20th century was witness to the most terrible wars in human history. Thankfully we haven’t seen anything on like scale in the 70 years since World WarII. But will there ever be a time like this again, when genocidal leaders in attempting to rule the world wreak death and havoc on this level?
Your Bible says there will be such a time.
In the face of growing world crises, a charismatic leader akin to the worst dictators of the past will ultimately arise in Europe with promises of peace and safety. Ten other leaders will unite with him, giving their national sovereignty over to this ruler for a short time. The biblical book of Revelation refers to both the power bloc and its leader as “the Beast”—a revival of the Roman Empire.
In fact, this revival will follow the pattern of the Holy Roman Empire in returning to the church-state union of medieval times. The Beast ruler will form a partnership with the prophesied False Prophet, the leader of the great false church system known as Babylon the Great (Revelation 17)—religion being seen as a means to hold the politically unstable empire together. False miracles will convince the masses to follow the False Prophet and the Beast.
Despite its weaknesses, the European power will, like its predecessors, be transformed into a war-making apparatus. An astonished world will ask: “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:4). Yet there will indeed be war— the very worst ever.
North-south conflict—the spark
Conflict between this coming European superpower and a Middle Eastern coalition will be the final manifestation of the struggle detailed in the prophecy of Daniel 11 between powers to the north and south of the Holy Land—Syria and Egypt respectively in ancient times, with the northern power eventually becoming Rome and its successors. Daniel 11:40 says that at the time of the end the king of the South will push or ram at the king of the North.
Psalm 83 presents a confederation of nations, now Muslim, united in common cause against Israel (Psalms 83:1-18). This may equate to the final kingdom of the South, perhaps centered in Egypt, the largest Arab state, or possibly Saudi Arabia, homeland of Islam.
Daniel 11:40 shows that some kind of provocative action will be launched from this region against the final king of the North, the European Beast power. It might be a major terrorist attack, in line with jihadists’ dreams of striking against European Christendom. In any case, this is the spark that ignites a new world war, as we next see huge retaliation by the northern power, which includes its forces invading and occupying parts of the Middle East and North Africa—and entering the Holy Land (Daniel 11:40-43).
Early one August morning, Tsutomu Yamaguchi was preparing to return home from the town where he had spent the last three months on business. Employed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries in Japan as a draftsman, he had been working over the summer on a shipbuilding project. He was heading out on a bus to the station with two of his colleagues when he realized he had left something behind. His friends continued on while he returned to the company dormitory to retrieve it. Once he did, he began walking back toward the shipyard.
Mr. Yamaguchi remembered the day well: “It was a flat, open spot with potato fields on either side. It was very clear, a really fine day, nothing unusual about it at all. I was in good spirits.”
But that would change in an instant for him and the approximately 245,000 others in Hiroshima that day—Aug. 6, 1945. The Americans had dropped 720,000 leaflets two days earlier warning that the city would be obliterated—but no one paid any heed. Now the reality had come.
“As I was walking along I heard the sound of a plane, just one. I looked up into the sky and saw the B-29, and it dropped two parachutes. I was looking up into the sky at them, and suddenly … it was like a flash of magnesium, a great flash in the sky, and I was blown over,” he explained ( quoted by Richard Lloyd Parry, “The Luckiest or Unluckiest Man in the World?” The Times [London] website, March 29, 2009 ).
The plane he saw was the Enola Gay. It just completed its mission of dropping the first atomic bomb ever used in a military operation.
The study that showed vaccines were responsible for causing autism-associated or autism-like symptoms from mercury in vaccines was done by CDC epidemiologist Tom Verstraeten using the CDC's massive Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) and presented at the Simpsonwood Conference Center (Atlanta, GA area) in June 2000 with only 52 vaccine manufacturers invited to discuss the problem and how to change the science.
Here is what Dr. Verstraeten found:
We have found statistically significant relationships between exposure [to mercury in vaccines] and outcomes. At two months of age, developmental delay; exposure at three months, tics; at six months, attention deficit disorder. Exposure at one, three and six months, language and speech delays--the entire category of neurodevelopmental delays.
Dr. Verstraeten also discussed previous studies showing a link between mercury and neurodevelopmental disorders.
Instead of doing the right thing about what was going on, they powwowed over two days to change the science, sending Verstraeten back to redo his work. However, here are some of the statements made by some of the Simpsonwood conference members:

Since Bush I, when some of us began to argue loudly that a mindless ideological pursuit of free trade would imperil America’s industrial base, the total of U.S. trade deficits in goods with the world is approaching $10 trillion – 10 thousand billion dollars!
Might this humongous dumping of foreign goods into the U.S.A., killing our factories, and the liberation of our transnational elite to close plants, outsource production and bring foreign-made goods back free of charge into the U.S. market, have had something to do with killing the middle class?
The U.S. median income stopped growing in the mid-1970s, the same time we began to run 40 straight years of ever-expanding trade deficits.
And how are we doing with China?
Well, if one reads the weekend Wall Street Journal, Feb. 9-10, on page A3 in the lower left-hand corner is a box with a story headlined, “Trade Gap Shrinks 21 Percent as Oil Imports Decline.”

DURANGO, Colo. — The Animas River is the cultural soul of this patch of southwestern Colorado, a sort of moving Main Street that hosts multiple floating parades a year and is typically bustling with rafters and kayakers. Buddy Baker, noted for a 34-year career in NASCAR's top series that produced 19 victories including the 1980 Daytona 500, died Monday morning from lung cancer. He was 74.

The 6-foot-6 Baker, the son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Buck Baker, was known for his all-out style, one that allowed him to win four times at Talladega, four times at Charlotte, twice at Darlington and twice at Daytona. He ranks 14th in NASCAR history with 38 poles in his 700 career starts from 1959-1992. He had 202 top-fives and 311 top-10s.
In 1998, the "Gentle Giant" was named one of NASCAR's 50 greatest drivers.
He finished in the top-10 in the standings five times with a best of fifth in 1977. He raced mainly for his family team at the start of his career and then for several car owners, including Ray Fox, Cotton Owens, Richard Petty, Nord Krauskopf, Bud Moore, Harry Ranier, the Wood Brothers and Danny Schiff.
Baker was the first driver to exceed 200 mph on a closed course when he did it in 1970 at Talladega Superspeedway.
RUSH: It was just 24 hours ago, ladies and gentlemen -- a mere 24 hours ago -- that I was behind this very Golden EIB Microphone informing you that I had come across a bit of news. The bit of news was that big-time Republican donors had ordered to take out Donald Trump in the debate last night.
We all made a mistake. We assumed that the orders went out to the candidates. But the candidates did not make one move toward taking Donald Trump out. The broadcast network did; the candidates didn't. I mean, let's review. The first question from Megyn Kelly to Trump was, "You've called women fat slobs, pigs, whatever," and he said, "No, just Rosie O'Donnell." The place starts laughing and so forth, but she's not amused, and she tells him, "No, it's more than that."
She keeps going on and on and on about it, and says, "Is this the right kind of temperament?" Whatever it was. Trump was clearly caught entirely off guard by it, and even today he said, "I'm not... I don't know when I've ever said this stuff." Who knows if he writes all of his tweets that he posts. You know, this is the danger that when you start going in the social media stuff and tweeting stuff and maybe you hire somebody to do it for you.
I happen to know Trump does not use a cell phone, folks. He does not do e-mail, for this very reason. I was told long ago when I first started playing golf with the Trumpster, he does not use a cell phone, or at least he doesn't do e-mail. I was kind of surprised, frankly, when I saw that he started tweeting. My first question is, "Does he write these tweets himself or does he have somebody on his staff doing it just because it's hip and it's hot and he wants a presence in it?"
Experts warn of 90,000 immediate deaths and a 'nuclear winter' across the US if supervolcano erupts
A supervolcano in the heart of America's northwest has the potential to blanket the US in a 'nuclear winter'.
If it were to erupt, the Yellowstone supervolcano would be one thousand times as powerful as the 1980 Mount St Helens eruption, experts claim.
While it has lain dormant for more than 70,000 years, scientists say that we can't rule out the possibility eruption this may some day take place - although they say the chances are extremely slim.

The volcano at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Montana sits atop a huge reserve of molten rock and last erupted 640,000 years ago.
It is one of the largest active continental silicic volcanic fields in the world. Silicic is used to describe magma or igneous rock rich in silica.
Experts say there is a one in 700,000 annual chance of a volcanic eruption at the site.
All of the employment gains among women since the recession hit in December 2007 have been taken by foreigners, even at a time when the numbers of U.S.-born women surged more than 600,000, according to new federal statistics.
The jobs data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed gains in the "employment level" among "foreign born women" and losses among "native born women."
The charts show that 9.041 million foreign-born women held jobs in December of 2007 compared to 10.028 million today – or a gain of roughly 1 million jobs.
In contrast, 59.322 million U.S.-born women held jobs in December of 2007 compared to 59.258 million today – or a loss of nearly 64,000 jobs.

Defense minister hints assassinations may resume, says Israel considering air strikes against nuclear facilities
As the world moves closer to ratifying a nuclear deal that Jerusalem says won’t keep Iran from obtaining a nuclear arsenal, Ya’alon told German newspaper Der Spiegel that Israel would do anything necessary in order to assure Tehran does not get atomic weapons, including taking military action.
“Ultimately it is very clear, one way or another, Iran’s military nuclear program must be stopped,” Ya’alon said, according to a retranslation from an interview published in the German daily. “We will act in any way and are not willing to tolerate a nuclear-armed Iran. We prefer that this be done by means of sanctions, but in the end, Israel should be able to defend itself,” the defense minister said.
He added that he was “not responsible for the lives of Iranian scientists,” according to Der Spiegel, which will publish the full interview on Saturday.
Ya’alon further stated that Israel was considering carrying out airstrikes on Iranian military facilities, the German paper reported.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — The family of a young driver struck and killed by Tony Stewart's car on an upstate New York sprint racing track filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the NASCAR star Friday.
The lawsuit was filed as Stewart returns to Watkins Glen International on the one-year anniversary of the fatal crash.
The lawsuit accuses Stewart of gross negligence, saying he gunned his engine and put his car into a skid as 20-year-old Kevin Ward Jr. walked onto the track after a crash at Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Aug. 9, 2014. The car struck Ward, and he was killed.
A grand jury declined to indict Stewart, who at the time called it "100 percent an accident." There was no comment from Stewart, who was with his crew in the garage before a final practice Friday afternoon. Stewart-Haas Racing, the NASCAR Sprint Cup team Stewart co-owns, also declined comment.
It’s official. Pope Francis released his long awaited, controversial, and much debated encyclical on the environment. The central issue being addressed is the threat of global warming to the environment and its impact on the poor, the family, and the world’s economy. Undergirding his thesis is humanity’s need to protect and take care of creation. Before its ‘official’ release, the world was presented with a ‘leaked’ version that accelerated discussions on the issue. Religionists, politicians, and scientists were offering their take on the impact of Francis’ encyclical on the climate change debate.
Jeb Bush, Roman Catholic and recently declared Republican candidate for the presidency, disagrees with his pope’s position on climate change. He declared, “I hope I’m not going to get castigated for saying this by my priest back home…religion ought to be about making us better as people and less about things that end up getting into the political realm. Those words are eerily reminiscent of the late John F. Kennedy’s declaration to a gathering of Protestant ministers in Houston, Texas in September, 1960 as he sought to convince the electorate that as a Roman Catholic, he will not run the country according to the teachings of his church, but rather on the basis of the country’s constitution. He was cruelly assassinated in Dallas, Texas before the on-looking world three years later.
Stem cells derived from aborted fetuses are used in the U.S. for food and cosmetic research, with one San Francisco-based beauty company notoriously incorporating cell lines in many of its products, including anti-aging face and eye creams.
Some of those creams received awards in recent months from popular U.S. entertainment magazines Elle and InStyle.
Earlier this week, an anti-abortion activist group released an online video that it claims evidences methods in which Planned Parenthood not only sells fetal organs for a profit – a felony in the U.S. – but even alters standard abortion practices in order to preserve fetal organs.
Planned Parenthood denied the accusations, saying it does not sell the human tissue but instead donates the tissue to scientific research while only being reimbursed for expenses, which the group maintains is legal.
The abortion group’s spokesman, Eric Ferrero, told reporters Planned Parenthood harvested the tissue “with full, appropriate consent from patients and under the highest ethical and legal standards.”
The California anti-abortion group, Center for Medical Progress, which released a nearly 3-hour long undercover video, charged “Planned Parenthood’s criminal conspiracy to make money off of aborted baby parts reaches to the very highest levels of their organization.”
The issue clearly has reinvigorated the debate about abortion and stem cell research using tissue harvested from aborted fetuses.
