There’s a rock n roll song written by Bob Dylan titled “the mighty Quinn.” I’m not sure if there are supposed to be any hidden religious meanings behind the words to this song, but there is a line, “But when Quinn the Eskimo gets here, all the pigeons are going to run to him.” Now, some make the claim that it’s nothing more than a drug song and the pigeons are the users-the junkies. It might be the case. However, the line has always meant something far different to me, and probably to me alone. Here goes my little story of liberals, do-gooders, religious phonies, the greedy and God Almighty Himself. I will use verses from the song several times and I hope you see the point of this little fairy tale of Quinn the Eskimo. You may never hear this song in the same way again.
Times are tough today, as they have always been, yet it seems a bit harder in our days now. Everybody is in despair for every girl and boy, but a time is coming when Christ gets here everybody is going to jump with joy. Pain and death are going to go away, but unfortunately that time is not now.
We have had our animal rights liberals, who call it a crime to eat an animal for food, or harm them in any way, whether some god says to do so or not. They spend their lives and fortunes attending to the needs of animals, while at the same time turn their backs on children starving to death in third-world nations. They would rather befriend and save an animal, then to save a human life. A human, who God says He made in His own image! These people care so much for their animals, beyond a love even for God, but what will they find on the day of Christ’s return? All of those pigeons they have been protecting and keeping the hunters away from will turn their backs on these activists and “all of the pigeons are going to run to Him,” as the line goes, because unlike godless mankind, nature knows the one true God! Those pigeons in the park know who their God is, and it’s not the one feeding them bread in the park!
Then there are those who “stand for the poor,” the minorities and downtrodden. The Democrats who care more than you do for those in need. The ones who think it right to rob from you and give your money to the poor. The same ones who will someday be revealed by the living God as murderers, abortionists, rapist and corrupt politicians, will also watch their flock of uneducated mindless followers run after the one who stilled the waters and calmed the sea.
For all time, we have had religious hucksters promising the moon, the stars and heaven to those who follow them and give their wealth to them. Men and women who have promised salvation to those who followed god in their way. Some say we must call God by the right name, or do this ritual, or say a special number of hail Mary’s. These are the tithes that mankind demands. However, when God comes back, all of these doctrines and dogmas are going to disappear from the face of all eternity! All of those who have loved God, done right or wrong are going to forget those that have lied to them for some gain or superiority; and in droves run to the One who returns with a forgiven heart and healing hand. The schemes of the wicked will go for naught-their evil plans revealed to all.
We have religious “fundamentalist” on the right who again, are not the people they claim to be. Yes, they will hit you over the head with their Bibles, but they never have opened those Bibles and read the words of Jesus! Have they read, “ In vain do they worship me,” or “Why call me Lord, Lord and do not do the things that I say?” Oh yes, this do - good Sunday church goers worship Jesus, they love Jesus, and they will kill you for Jesus, but they refuse to do what Jesus says to do! So again, when he returns, he says that we will tell those same people, “Away from Me, all you who practice lawlessness.” Many who claim to be "His", will be left behind, while those “pigeons”, the poor ones abused by these religious leaders and bible-thumpers will be running to Christ, and leaving their churches behind.
The Plain Truth is our attempt to cry out to the world that God exists. Christ exists. The Bible is their word, and everything promised will happen, and all of us, whether we are pigeons today or royalty, will someday find ourselves, “Running to Him.” Let’s start today. Run to Christ, and not mere men who are usually running away from Him! Read your Bible and believe the promise. Believe the words, and you will find salvation. Don’t allow men to complicate your walk with your God!
