WASHINGTON (AFP) - A US appeals court in Florida on Friday struck down as unconstitutional the provision of President Barack Obama's controversial health care law requiring every individual to own health insurance.
The court ruled that the remainder of the health care law is within constitutional boundaries.
"The individual mandate exceeds Congress's enumerated commerce power and is unconstitutional," wrote Chief Judge Joel Dubina More>>>>>>>
One point that seems largely to have been missed in recent weeks, amid all the excitement over the federal budget and the sovereign-debt crises in Europe, is how free trade largely is the root cause of all these problems. Let's trace the causation for a minute.
Start with the federal budget. Federal revenues are derived from the underlying economy, and therefore, if the underlying economy would grow, so would revenues – even without tax increases. As a result, anything that causes the U.S. economy to be smaller tends to widen any gap between expenditures and revenues.
Enter free trade.
For it is thanks to America's embrace of free trade (whether genuinely free or not; that's another issue) that we have been running giant trade deficits for years. And these have been costing us economic growth.
The Economic Strategy Institute, a Washington think tank, estimated in 2001 that the trade deficit was shaving at least 1 percent per year off our economic growth. (See the report "China's Financial System and Monetary Policies: The Impact on U.S. Exchange Rates, Capital Markets, and Interest Rates," U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission, August 22, 2006, for the gory details.) This may not sound like much, but because GDP growth is cumulative, it compounds over time. Economist William Bahr has thus estimated that America's trade deficits since 1991 alone – they stretch back unbroken to 1976 – have caused our economy to be 13 percent smaller than it otherwise would be.
That's an economic hole larger than the entire Canadian economy.

President Obama has never explained why he has a Conncecticut-based Social Security Number
President Obama's potentially criminal use of a mysterious, Connecticut-based Social Security Number should become an important issue in his quest for re-election in 2012, says a former presidential candidate and ambassador in Ronald Reagan's administration.
Alan Keyes, who most recently sought the Republican nomination in 2008, discussed concerns about why Obama has a number reserved for Connecticut applicants, despite the president's never having lived in the Constitution State.
The first three digits of Obama's SSN are 042. That code falls within the range of numbers for Connecticut, which according to the Social Security Administration has been 040 through 049.
"I believe that when you are confronted with a situation that is filled with these kinds of – what shall we call them – anomalies, disparities, it is reasonable common sense to want to try to get straight answers," said Keyes.
"If you're trying to ascertain whether or not somebody ought to be sitting with, as they used to say, their finger on the button of nuclear weapons that can blow up the world, their power extending to decisions that can collapse our economy, their influence extending to areas that can destroy the standards and moral conscience of our people in the eyes of the world, I think you might want to know who they were. It might be a good idea!"
Keyes' comments came during an online interview with Stan Solomon, as he addressed an issue that has been avoided by the White House and almost completely ignored by national news agencies.
"Let's say that you're trying to establish someone's identity for the purposes of an investigation and you come across a Social Security Number that has that person coming from a state that all the other records of their life indicate they've never been to," Keyes explained.
"I think you would look at that as an anomaly that suggests, among other things, that you better probe a little harder to make sure that the identity that you're dealing with is a real identity – that it's not something that's been in some sense fabricated for some particular purpose, because one of the things you want to do if you're tracking somebody down is make sure you're tracking them down, not following some phony figment down to dead ends. That's common sense."

HMIEL FAMILY GIVES FIRST NATIONAL TELEVISION INTERVIEW TONASCAR RACE HUBTHURSDAY ON SPEED™
BYRNES: ‘SHANE’S MESSAGE IS SO POSITIVE … IT INSPIRED EVERYONE IN THE ROOM’
Banned by NASCAR for life after failing three drug tests, race car driver Shane Hmiel was en route to resurrecting his racing career when he suffered a near-fatal accident while trying to qualify for a USAC race in Terre Haute, Indiana. Originally given only a 10 percent chance at survival, Hmiel remains paralyzed but continues to defy the odds.
This week, the Hmiel Family opens up to a national television audience for the first time as a special feature hosted by Steve Byrnes headlines Thursday’s edition of NASCAR Race Hub on SPEED (7 p.m. ET).
“I started working on this in January,” said Byrnes, who first met Shane’s father, Steve, in 1985. “I wanted to go into the interview as open-minded as possible. I didn’t have a point of view. I just wanted to listen … and Shane opened up about everything.
“What I walked away with was, here is this guy in the prime of his life … who had turned his life around and now (after the accident) has every reason to be bitter,” Byrnes added. “But his message is so positive … it inspired everyone in the room.”
Europe and the US are hopelessly over-indebted. The crisis that started in the US real estate sector in 2007 has devastated state finances on both sides of the Atlantic and is threatening to wreck the euro and trigger a second global downturn. The world lacks the political leadership needed to end the turmoil. By SPIEGEL Staff more...
AUGUST 8, 1974, televised from the Oval Office, 37th President Richard Nixon said: "Good evening. This is the 37th time I have spoken to you from this office...To continue to fight...for my personal vindication would almost totally absorb the time and attention of both the President and the Congress...Therefore, I shall resign...If some of my judgments were wrong...they were made in what I believed...to be the best interest of the Nation." Nixon continued: "In the Middle East, 100 million people in the Arab countries, many of whom have considered us their enemy...now look on us as their friends. We must continue to build on that friendship so that...the cradle of civilization will not become its grave." Nixon continued speaking: "I have taken heart from what Theodore Roosevelt once said about the man in the arena, 'whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who strives valiantly...If he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly.'...In leaving...I do so with this prayer: May God's grace be with you in all the days ahead." Privately to his Cabinet, President Nixon said: "Mistakes, yes...for personal gain, never...I can only say to each...of you...we come from many faiths...but really the same God...You will be in our hearts and...in our prayers."

A multi-agency SWAT-style armed raid was conducted this morning by helmet-wearing, gun-carrying enforcement agents from the LA County Sheriff's Office, the FDA, the Dept. of Agriculture and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control).
Rawesome Foods, a private buying club offering wholesome, natural raw milk and raw cheese products (among other wholesome foods) is founded by James Stewart, a pioneer in bringing wholesome raw foods directly to consumers through a buying club. James was followed from his private residence by law enforcement, and when he entered his store, the raid was launched.
Law enforcement demanded that all customers (members) of the store vacate the premises, then they demanded to know how much cash James had at the store. When James explained the amount of cash he had at the store -- which is used to purchase product for selling there -- agents demanded to know why he had such an amount of cash and where it came from.
There is a belief which is being propagated that anything Greek must be suspect and that only Hebrew is to be trusted. Now, some question the New Testament, which has been used for almost two thousand years, simply because it was translated from Greek manuscripts. A few years ago these people believed the Bible. Today they do not trust it; and that is exactly what our adversary wants.
Having learned of pagan traditions which have crept into the churches, some are jumping out of the frying pan of contemporary Christianity into the literal fire of unbelief - to the extent of denying that Jesus / Yeshua is the Christ / Messiah. The Greek, Hebrew, debate has been a contributing factor.
Today there are those who teach that the entire New Testament must have been originally written in Hebrew or Awmaaic and that it could not possibly have been written in Greek. Their is no basis for what they teach. The earliest New Testament manuscripts and fragments are all found in Greek. No New Testament manuscript is to be found that predates the Greek. Not one!
Forward: This all has to do with the formation of a new Europe, the Bible cause "The Beast" which will be headed by Germany and be the final revival of The Holy Roman Empire. Europe's economy will fail, a great depression is coming to Europe and a MONSTER will emerge.
"The way Europe is operating right now, it's what I called recently 'cognitive dissonance,'" Minerd said, or "basically doing the same thing thinking they're going to get a different outcome."
"They keep throwing more and more liquidity at it thinking it's going to get better and it's not," he added. Europe fails to recognize that it has a "structural problem, not a liquidity problem."
People will "flee the euro" unless they find a way to bifurcate the euro in some way where strong countries are in the euro only and the weak countries are out, Minerd explained, adding, "To be honest with you, I don't see the mechanism to do that."
Yet moronic Americans just don't seem to care enough to get mad.
Is the US government starting to implement the policies of the United Nation’s plan for global management of people and resources known as Agenda 21? The latest efforts out of the Department of Transportation (DOT) seem to indicate this is happening. And they are starting by targeting America’s farming communities with costly and oppressive regulations.
In Late May, the DOT proposed a rule change for farm equipment, and if it this allowed to take effect, it will place significant regulatory pressure on small farms and family farms all across America – costing them thousands of dollars and possibly forcing many of them out of business. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), part of the Department of Transportation (DOT), wants new standards that would require all farmers and everyone on the farm to obtain a CDL (Commercial Drivers License) in order to operate any farming equipment. The agency is going to accomplish this by reclassifying all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs).
(It is also important to note here that DOT Secretary Ray LaHood holds a seat on the newly created White House Rural Council. A powerful group whose members have ties to George Soros and The Center For American Progress.)
The move by the DOT appears to be “legislation through regulation.” By reclassifying all farm vehicles and implements as Commercial Vehicles, the federal government will now be able to claim regulatory control over the estimated 800,000 farm workers in America, at the same time, overriding the rights of the states.
